Amazon Career Choice: Web Development TA

SUMMARY

TAs play a critical role in teaching ~25-30 learners (as part of a larger class) in Correlation One’s virtual Web Development training program. The TA commitment for our program will be for the duration of 21 weeks. TAs will be expected to support synchronous sessions as well as provide asynchronous support to Fellows to ensure their comprehension and learning.

DESCRIPTION

• The program is held over 21 weeks, from January 14 - June 10, 2023. 
• There are two programs that run concurrently, one for the United Kingdom and one for Canada; you would be a TA for one of these two programs. You are not required to reside in the country of the program you are assigned to.
• TA will support ~25-30 learners in their learning as they work toward completion of the program.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Onboarding (Pre-Program):

We will host 2 live onboarding sessions, when we walk through the program elements, set you up on our systems, and ensure that you are prepared to teach and support learners effectively before the program launches on January 14, 2023. We will provide training materials in advance of, during, and after these onboarding sessions, which will be important for you to ensure your understanding of this content and your responsibilities.

Mandatory Onboarding (Pre-Program Dates):

• Thursday, January 5 2023: 12-1pm ET

• Tuesday, January 10 2023: 12-1pm ET

Management and Support (During Program): 

• Join us for our program launches, which will take place on the first day of the program, where you will introduce yourself to learners. 
• Provide 8 hours of individual office hour sessions for learners each week. You may set these hours within our parameters, for your convenience.
• Work with fellow instructors/TAs and our team on ways to improve learner experience 
• Attend all* classes, as listed below:

UK

• Tuesdays and Thursdays 2-4pm ET (7-9pm GMT)
• Saturdays 8am-1pm ET (1-6pm GMT)

Canada

• Tuesdays and Thursdays 12-2pm ET
• Saturdays 10am-3pm ET

*Depending on whether you apply as a full-time or part-time TA, you may attend a varying combination of class hours while offering office hours for your combined weekly hours, to be determined with the program manager

REQUIREMENTS

• Empathy, flexibility, patience; passion for working with diverse learners who are new to content
• Prior teaching experience at any level is a plus
• University or college degree or equivalent working experience in the following: Advanced HTML/CSS, HTML page design, Animation, Bootstrap, Responsive Design, Git and Github, UI/UX Design, Sigma, Adobe Xd, Advanced Javascipt, HTTP/HTTPS, APIs, Async, A/B Testing, React, Angular, Vue, Svelte, Hosting, Common Attacks (SQL injection, DDoS), Agile/Scrum concepts

This position is accessible for those with other professional responsibilities, including full-time jobs, provided you can commit to regular synchronous support for live class sessions.  We require a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice for any planned absences from live sessions or periods when Teaching Assistants are not available (i.e., scheduled vacations, other work commitments, etc.); we will communicate more specific expectations for this during the onboarding process.
