Accountabilities:

  • Design, implement, and enhance government accounting processes, including cost reimbursement reporting, indirect rate calculations, project costing, and allowable versus unallowable cost tracking.
  • Develop and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and operational procedures to ensure compliance with government regulations and audit requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to prepare for financial and government audits while supporting future compliance initiatives such as Single Audits and related reporting frameworks.
  • Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and scalable financial infrastructure to support organizational growth and increasing operational complexity.
  • Collaborate with Finance leadership, Legal, Operations, and external advisors to address government accounting requirements and strengthen compliance practices.
  • Mentor team members, review accounting work, and contribute to building a high-performing and efficient accounting function.
  • Requirements

    • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 4 years focused on government accounting, government contracting, or cost-reimbursable environments.
    • Strong knowledge of government accounting regulations, including cost allocation methodologies, indirect rates, allowable costs, and audit-ready financial reporting.
    • Experience supporting government audits, DCAA compliance, FAR/CAS concepts, Single Audits, Yellow Book standards, or similar regulatory frameworks.
    • Proven ability to establish and improve accounting controls, financial policies, and compliance procedures in evolving organizations.
    • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and ownership of month-end close and core accounting operations.
    • Leadership experience with the ability to coach team members, review work, and drive high-quality financial outcomes.
    • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
    • CPA certification and experience with ERP platforms such as NetSuite or project-based accounting systems are highly desirable.
    • Benefits

      • Competitive base salary with performance-based incentives or bonus opportunities.
      • Equity participation.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees and eligible dependents.
      • Retirement savings plan with company matching.
      • Paid parental leave and inclusive family-building benefits.
      • Flexible paid time off and company-wide seasonal breaks.
      • Flexible work arrangements that support work-life balance.
      • Ongoing learning, professional development, and cross-functional career growth opportunities.
