THE OPPORTUNITY: 

Our in-house legal team is growing and are seeking an Associate General Counsel that will report directly to our General Counsel. As an Associate General Counsel, you will play a vital role in some of ActBlue’s most strategic priorities. In this role, you will provide strategic legal counsel, subject matter expertise and thought partnership in data security and privacy, including information technology, payments, financial services, existing and new technologies, consumer protection, vendor relationships and other corporate, transactional and regulatory matters. You will partner closely with department leaders to identify issues of the highest risk facing the organization and propose and drive solutions to address them. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide counsel and advice to organization stakeholders and senior leaders to ensure security, privacy and other risk-related issues are considered for existing and new initiatives in data processing, payments, and technology 

  • Provide oversight of related contractual provisions such as data and financial processing agreements, contracts and clauses 

  • Monitor and assess federal and state data security, privacy, and consumer protection laws and regulations and assess how legal requirements affect ActBlue initiatives

  • Stay informed on technology trends and developments and provide perspective on impacts of ActBlue initiatives

  • Consider and assess internal corporate structures and transactions with vendors and third-party organizations

  • Build and maintain strong and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders 

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Ten or more years of experience 

  • Experience and knowledge of legal matters in data privacy, fintech, payments, tech and finance sectors 

  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • JD and license to practice law (in any state)

  • Ability to provide thought partnership and leadership in developing innovative legal and risk management strategies 

LOCATION AND COMPENSATION: 

This posting is for a full-time, remote, salaried position. ActBlue is currently authorized to support remote work employees in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington D.C., Wisconsin and Wyoming. 

Salary Range Details:

Salary Range: $190,000 - $250,000 

ActBlue is committed to consistent compensation practices across our organization.  Final salary offers will take into account factors such as candidate experience, interview performance and current team salary parity.
