Associate Mathematician

Job Summary:

As an Associate Mathematician at SciPlay you will spend your time learning about and implementing probabalistic models of slot machines in our custom math simulation environment. You will verify models’ correctness and deliver them to our development team at which point you will support their implementation, providing insight into the details, and addressing any questions or issues.

Essential Job Functions:

· Interpreting and adjusting probabilistic models of modern feature rich video slot machines

· Implementing, in code, probabilistic models of slot machines in our custom C# simulation environment

· Writing documentation related to game specific models

· Supporting development teams in their implementation of models within the production games

Requirements

Education

A degree in mathematics or one requiring a high degree of mathematical ability and problem solving

Essential Qualities and Skills:

· A thorough grasp of introductory probability

· The principals of counting, random variables, probability distributions, expectation, and variance

· The ability to write code in an object oriented paradigm

· An understanding of the basic syntax and common idiom of languages such as C#, C++, or Java

· A grasp of the basic tenets of effective communication

· The ability to effectively communicate technical details to a variety of audiences both technical and non-technical

· Passion for problem solving and puzzles

Desirable Qualities and Skills:

· Love of games, especially games of chance

· Experience working in a professional office setting

· Communicating with a large collection of geographically distributed teams

· Experience writing code in a software development context
