Structured Finance Group (SFG). The successful candidate will join our Surveillance Consumer Asset Backed Securities (ABS) group in New York City. The group is responsible for monitoring ratings on a wide range of structured finance securitizations in the following three, broadly defined, sectors: student loans, auto loans and consumer loans.

Role/Responsibilities

The consumer Asset Backed Securities (ABS) ratings team is seeking a senior surveillance lead analyst in New York City. The group is responsible for monitoring ratings of structured finance securities backed by auto loan, auto lease, auto floorplan, student loan and other consumer assets.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the credit analysis of a portfolio of US consumer ABS securitizations. This will include analysis of the underlying assets, transaction structures/waterfalls, legal framework and entail deal-level modeling using Moody's in-house models, Excel or other models and statistical packages to formulate and substantiate independent credit opinions.

The successful candidate will be expected to serve as the lead ratings analyst for transactions, monitor industry conditions and trends, present transactions to rating committees, succinctly communicate his or her analysis during internal meetings, identify and write accurate and relevant credit research, participate in outreach with external parties (issuers, investors and other parties), and actively contribute to fostering a culture of excellence at Moody's. The candidate will also be expected to lead and contribute to various special projects/methodologies, develop an in-depth knowledge of the consumer ABS sector and pursue initiatives to enhance our analytics, outreach and research impact.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a structured finance analyst or in related occupation involving credit analysis.
  • Masters' degree in finance, economics, financial engineering or related quantitative field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills essential
  • Strong Excel skills are needed. Modeling skills and experience running cash flow analysis or other structured finance analytical tools preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of legal matters involving structuring and operation of structured finance transactions
  • Sound judgment and highest ethical standards
  • Capable of developing independent opinions and defending own views
  • Professional, pro-active, flexible, diligent and dependable
  • Ability to adapt to changing market conditions and business environment
  • Highly organized and efficient, with ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $155,400 to $225,300, depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation. Moody's also offers a competitive benefits package, including not but limited to medical, dental, vision, parental leave, paid time off, a 401(k) plan with employee and company contribution opportunities, life, disability, and accident insurance, a discounted employee stock purchase plan, and tuition reimbursement.
