Job Summary

The AVP, Actuarial Asset Liability Modeling is responsible for actuarial projections for F&G Annuities & Life.  This individual will lead the team responsible for completing actuarial model runs, executing controls, and summarizing output. 

This role will report to the VP, Actuarial Asset Liability Modeling and will manage a team of 2-3 individuals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership with respect to using Corporate models for F&G analysis and evaluation of F&G key strategic initiatives
  • Foster a strong model governance and controls environment within the team, including maintaining comprehensive documentation and flawlessly executing controlled processes and procedures
  • Lead and collaborate with various teams to understand, develop, and implement model specifications for completing actuarial projections. Leads the team to complete accurate and timely model runs and reviews the summarization of output
  • Ad hoc activities as requested by executive management

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or related field
  • FSA preferred, ASA required
  • Seven - Ten years of related actuarial experience
  • Four years’ experience managing a team
  • Experience with and knowledge of AXIS (preferred) or similar actuarial modeling software is required
  • Experience within the Fixed Indexed Annuity, Indexed Universal Life or Pension Risk Transfer lines of business, as well as reinsurance preferred
  • Experience with modeling applications that calculate or project US statutory and US GAAP quantities preferred (e.g., Valuation, Pricing, Asset Liability Management, Cash Flow Testing)

  • Strong understanding of actuarial projections and interactions between various product features and actuarial calculation results
  • Strong problem-solving skills that include advanced analytical and reasoning abilities to apply actuarial concepts to complex situations
  • Highly organized and disciplined enforcer of model governance protocols
  • Unconditional integrity and commitment to delivering accurate information on schedule
  • Able to fully access deliverable requirements against allocated resources setting priorities and calling on additional resources as required
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to proactively identify issues and to influence key project decisions to achieve desired outcomes
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and is able to operate efficiently in unpredictable and challenging project environments
  • Open and direct communicator who provides clear direction with a results-oriented style
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills (including communicating with and presenting to all levels of management)
  • Some travel may be required (less than 5%)
