Job Description

Team: Finance

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Collections Risk Management Lead in United States.

This is a senior risk leadership role at the center of a rapidly scaling fintech platform focused on redefining financial services for business owners. You will own the end-to-end collections and delinquency strategy for a credit card portfolio spanning consumer and small business segments, shaping how risk is managed from early delinquency through recovery and charge-off. The role combines deep analytical rigor with strategic decision-making, requiring you to design treatment strategies, optimize recovery performance, and balance regulatory compliance with financial outcomes. You will operate as a key member of the risk leadership team, partnering closely with credit, finance, legal, and operations to drive portfolio performance. This is a highly influential position where your work directly impacts loss rates, recovery economics, and customer treatment standards. The environment is fast-paced, data-driven, and built for senior operators who thrive in ownership-heavy roles.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the full lifecycle of collections risk strategy across early delinquency, late-stage collections, charge-off, and recovery for consumer and SMB credit portfolios.
  • Design and optimize treatment strategies across DPD buckets, including contact strategies, segmentation, channel mix, and intervention timing to maximize cure rates.
  • Lead analytical frameworks for hardship programs, settlements, and modification strategies, ensuring optimal balance between recovery and customer outcomes.
  • Define and govern vendor and third-party collections strategy, including placement timing, performance management, and KPI frameworks to maximize net recovery.
  • Develop settlement and litigation strategies based on risk segmentation, balance tiers, and expected recovery value, including SMB owner liability considerations.
  • Own charge-off policy, recovery forecasting, and loss curve modeling across vintages, channels, and portfolio segments.
  • Build end-to-end collections analytics frameworks that identify early deterioration signals and enable proactive intervention strategies.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including credit risk, finance, legal, compliance, and operations to align collections strategy with broader risk and business objectives.
  • Lead collections performance reviews and present insights, forecasts, and vendor performance updates to senior leadership and risk committees.
  • Contribute to stress testing and loss forecasting models under adverse economic scenarios.
  • Requirements:

    • 7–15 years of experience in collections risk management, credit risk, or portfolio analytics within fintech, banking, or regulated card programs.
    • Strong end-to-end understanding of delinquency lifecycle management, including roll rates, cure rates, charge-offs, and recovery modeling.
    • Hands-on experience managing or partnering with third-party collections agencies and understanding placement economics and performance trade-offs.
    • Strong quantitative skills with proficiency in SQL and either Python or R for building and analyzing risk and recovery models.
    • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks impacting collections, including FDCPA, Reg F, UDAAP, and related compliance standards.
    • Experience working with SMB or business lending portfolios and understanding unique small business credit dynamics.
    • Strong strategic thinking and ability to design scalable collections frameworks in high-growth environments.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex risk data into clear executive-level insights.
    • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently and influence senior stakeholders.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation aligned with senior risk leadership roles in fintech
      • Equity participation in a high-growth, venture-backed company
      • Fully remote or hybrid flexibility depending on role setup
      • Opportunity to build foundational risk infrastructure at scale
      • High-impact leadership role with direct influence on portfolio performance and strategy
      • Exposure to advanced fintech credit, payments, and lending systems
      • Collaborative, high-ownership culture with strong executive visibility
      • Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, retirement, and paid time off
