About You

We are looking for a Commercial Counsel. You will be our third in-house lawyer and will support all cross-functional teams on a wide range of commercial matters and general legal initiatives. You have a passion for providing creative, proactive, and pragmatic legal guidance, and will have an opportunity to make a big impact in a fast-paced organization. This role reports directly to the Deputy General Counsel. 

The day-to-day

• Draft, negotiate, and advise cross-functional teams on a broad range of commercial agreements, including software and SaaS, strategic partnerships, vendor, professional services and outsourcing, IT infrastructure, marketing and advertising technology, events, media, and content licensing agreements
• Provide thoughtful and practical business and legal advice to internal clients on various legal risks, opportunities, business strategies, and other issues related to commercial transactions and general operations
• Lead and negotiate complex technology transactions by creatively solving issues and guiding escalations to appropriate stakeholders in order to take strategic and informed risks to meet client needs
• Manage the development of standard template language to be used in contracts, ancillary documents, and associated playbooks
• Oversee our contract management system, contract maintenance, and administration
• Handle day-to-day matters as needed and support the legal team on various legal initiatives
• Stay up-to-date on legal and industry developments

Qualifications 

• Admitted to practice law in at least one state and have 3 years of tech-related commercial transactional legal experience (either law firm or in-house)
• Working knowledge of data privacy as it relates to commercial contracts 
• Experience partnering with cross functional teams (engineering, design, product, finance) to generate alignment and resolve complicated issues 
• Highly motivated, self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment 
• Proven ability to provide entrepreneurial, pragmatic, business-oriented advice, with a dedication to responsiveness and superior customer service
• Excellent organization, communication and interpersonal skills
• Most importantly, you have a growth mindset, embrace change, and practice with kindness, humility, compassion, integrity, and levity
