We’re looking for a leader to join Self as our Controller. This role will report to the VP of Accounting and serve as a key member of the Accounting Leadership team. As a leader at Self, the Controller will be responsible for overseeing Accounting Operations and GL Accounting, as well as liaise with various cross functional leaders including, Strategy, Operations, Product, Legal, Financial Reporting and FP&A. Our fast-paced environment requires excellent organization and strong execution to manage a variety of complex projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities
•    Manage the day-to-day Accounting Operations, GL Accounting, drive process improvements, manage the team, and partner with the rest of accounting and finance to perform as a unified business partner to the rest of the organization.
•    Own the month end close and consolidation of multiple entities. This means you and your team prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations across several financial statement areas including cash, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other assets
•    Hire, develop, and train a team of high performing accountants
•    Partner closely with Financial Reporting to operationalize relevant research on technical accounting topics
•    Establish and document policies, procedures, controls and best practices across the organization
•    Ensure timely and accurate preparation of inputs to the monthly, quarterly, year-end financials in compliance with applicable reporting standards
•    Act as the key point of contact for external auditors and lead the audit process for the company
•    Serve as an agent of change for system improvements and technology automation by proactively identifying and implementing process improvements
•    Provide support on non-routine  complex transactions such as mergers & acquisitions
•    Contribute to various ad hoc projects and help with standardizing processes
Requirements

•    A minimum of 10 years relevant accounting experience in a SaaScomplex organization
•    Experience leading, managing, and developing an Accounting team.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
•    CPA and/or Public Accounting experience is a plus
•    Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP 
•    Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•    SaaS, FinTech and Start-up experience a plus
•    Previous experience with Netsuite a plus
•    Ability to adhere and meet internal and external deadlines
•    Ability to work independently, within a team and cross-functionally throughout the organization
