ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Controller is responsible for managing the company’s accounting activities, including consolidated financial statements, budgets, forecasts, month-end and year-end closings, bank/credit line reporting, as well as internal and external audits and tax reporting. This individual will work directly with the CFO and management team to provide leadership strategies, create financial reports, provide strategic financial guidance and analysis, as well as help the company achieve business goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the accounting department while providing key financial information and reports to senior leadership on company activities
- Manage financial data for areas of responsibility to ensure data integrity and accuracy through development and documentation of procedures, database management, and presenting suggestions for improvement as appropriate.
- Oversee accounting procedures and internal controls (implement, monitor, enhance).
- Participate in the month end close cycle by executing and coordinating activities of staff to produce timely financial statements, analyses and reconciliations. This includes supervision and/or preparation of monthly journal entries, reconciliations and any other analysis as determined from time to time, as well as management/completion of interim deliverables as determined by the month end close calendar.
- Prepare schedules and provide requested data for audits by accessing appropriate information and support to make sure the audit is completed successfully and timely.
- Consult on sound management of Company assets.
- Generate standard and ad hoc financial reports by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger and other company systems, developing recommendations and reporting to management.
- Analyze variances, interpret data and develop projections using appropriate tools and methodologies to assist management in meeting established goals.
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors to lead the annual audit process.
- Collaborate with the FP&A team to develop insights and improvements to business performance.
- Develop process improvements and procedures with the CFO on business ricks and performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA or MBA preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP, FASB, accrual basis accounting, audit, fixed asset accounting and tax filing requirements
- 10+ years of experience in Accounting, ideally in CPG or F&B industry
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel & google suite
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- M&A experience preferred
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Prior experience with NetSuite & Anaplan strongly preferred
COMPENSATION
$175,000 base salary
