Job Summary
The head of Data Management is responsible for building F&Gs long-term data & analytics strategy, leading our data maturity assessment and roadmap creation, ensuring data quality and governance, fostering a culture that embraces data & analytics, and partnering with leaders across the enterprise to leverage data and analytics to improve decisions, efficiency, and firm performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Propose and build the go-forward structure and operating model for the Data & Analytics Office including but not limited to data owners and data stewards throughout the F&G organization
- Define the multi-year strategic roadmap for data & analytics by collaborating with the business and technology leaders to define scope, priorities, and implementation plan with a "one portfolio" mindset
- Has primary responsibility for data governance, data strategy, data solutions, data quality standards, and maintaining data to support analytics across the firm
- Identify and drive key use cases that create strategic and transformational value for our employees and investing businesses
- Ensure data integrity and quality by governing the aggregation, monitoring, testing, metadata management and implementation and adoption of the Data Catalog
- Chair the Data Platform Council, in partnership with other F&G Leaders, to define, identify, and acquire third party data to integrate with our existing data assets; create new, actionable offerings that can be leveraged by the firm to drive improvements for operational efficiency and better insights
- Lead strategic data & analytics discussions and work directly with the other key leaders to link their strategies and plans with those of the data & analytics roadmap to ensure alignment
- Demonstrate thought leadership and recommend innovative solutions. Stay up-to-date with new data technologies and analytical tools and techniques while identifying new external trends and innovations
- Provide transparency into planning and funding of data & analytics initiatives that impact the roadmap
- Build organizational capability and drive a culture enabled by data & analytics
- Work collaboratively with Enterprise and Solution Architecture teams and other IT leaders to accomplish IT and business goals
Experience and Education Requirements
- 10+ yearsโ experience in a leadership role with a minimum of 7+ years' experience in strategic data management roles with a track record of driving business outcomes
- Bachelor's Degree required, MBA preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership experience including building and motivating teams
- Experience and interest in the Life and Annuity Insurance domain
- Strong experience building out, articulating, and delivering on business cases around data use and/or a data-centric business strategy
- Strong experience with Master Data Management (MDM) concept, tools as well as data warehousing concepts, techniques and best practices
- Experience with data science tooling and ecosystems, delivery of data discovery and data analytic solutions, and statistical libraries (e.g., python)
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation, facilitation, influencing, and consensus building skills
- High degree of flexibility and ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization with diverse backgrounds
- Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly
- Must possess strong analytical, strategic, project management, decision-making and problem-solving skills
