Data Science Lead

The Role

As the Data Science Lead, you will be responsible for the collection, design, modeling, visualization, and democratization of data across the organization. You are an inspiring data leader with the ability to synthesize complex ideas into simple communication for a variety of audiences (from data-curious to data-driven). Your role will be to enable the use of data across the organization, predict Bobbie’s future, and model the future Bobbie wishes to create. 

You will sit on the Growth and Data team, and you will collaborate with a number of roles across the company to drive business strategy.

What you will do: 

• Vision: Own the data vision and communicate it effectively and simply to functional leaders and executives.
• Leadership: Lead a team of analysts, engineers, and vendors and mobilize them to deliver on the data roadmap.
• Strategy: Solution ideation and enablement to meet and achieve business objectives.
• Ownership: Own, maintain, and optimize data ingestion, transformation, database design, and visualization with the goal of data democratization.
• Governance: Data governance and quality supporting the deployment of the regional organization needed to secure data quality.
• Predict & Achieve: Build models to define and design the ideal future for Bobbie and its customers.

What we would like you have: 

• BS in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field with 2+ years of experience or equivalent academic experience with a masters/PhD program in a relevant field.
• Experience as a data engineer, scientist, or analyst with a proven track-record of leading data acquisition, analytics, modeling, and solution design.
• Management experience 2+ years.
• Proficiency with a modern programming language (e.g. Python or R).
• Experience interacting with databases (e.g. SQL, Google BigQuery).
• Experience developing and training ML and/or statistical models.
• Familiarity with standard modeling techniques including model evaluation and testing (e.g. statistical significance testing, cross validation).
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to partner with and influence senior business and technology leaders.
• Ability to lead and develop a high performing team while also working hands-on to deliver results.
• Ecommerce experience preferred.
