This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Accounting based in Canada.

This leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee accounting operations within a fast-growing global technology environment.
The position plays a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, operational excellence, and audit readiness across multiple entities and currencies.

Accountabilities:

The Director, Accounting will lead accounting operations, financial reporting processes, and strategic finance initiatives while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across a global organization. This role requires a hands-on leader who can manage teams, improve processes, and partner with stakeholders to strengthen financial operations.

  • Lead the accounting team through monthly close processes across multiple legal entities and currencies, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
  • Own close management workflows, reconciliation processes, and reporting visibility through effective tools and operational practices.
  • Partner with finance teams on financial reviews, revenue analysis, variance analysis, and reporting activities.
  • Manage intercompany accounting processes, eliminations, transfer pricing structures, and multi-entity consolidation activities.
  • Oversee accounts payable operations, vendor invoice workflows, purchase approvals, contractor payments, payroll coordination, and commission processes.
  • Serve as a key contact for banking operations, lender reporting, investor reporting requirements, and external financial partners.
  • Lead annual audit activities, including preparation management, auditor communication, and resolution of technical accounting matters.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Drive improvements to accounting infrastructure, documentation, and processes to support scalability and audit readiness.
  • Partner with finance leadership and cross-functional teams on systems implementations, integrations, and operational improvements.
  • Manage and mentor accounting team members while fostering a proactive, accountable, and collaborative team culture.
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting leader with strong technical expertise, SaaS or technology industry experience, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, global environment. They should combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach and strong leadership capabilities.

    • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining public accounting experience with SaaS, software, or technology industry exposure.
    • CPA designation required.
    • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including ASC 606 revenue recognition, deferred revenue, intercompany accounting, multi-currency consolidations, and technical accounting principles.
    • Experience managing accounting operations across multiple entities, jurisdictions, and currencies.
    • Previous experience working in a private equity-backed environment and collaborating with auditors, lenders, investors, and external advisors.
    • Strong understanding of audit processes, compliance requirements, and internal control frameworks.
    • Experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite; familiarity with close management, reconciliation, or billing platforms is an advantage.
    • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to build and maintain complex financial models and reconciliations.
    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify opportunities, improve processes, and implement practical solutions.
    • Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, mentor, and develop accounting professionals.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across finance and business teams.
