Quick take: Axios is a growth-stage company dedicated to providing trustworthy, award-winning news content in an audience-first format. We’re hiring a program director to help us expand a training program to indoctrinate our Smart Brevity style and Axios’ standard of excellence into the newsroom.
Why it matters: As we position ourselves to scale, this role will expand our robust training program designed to ensure the next generation of Axios journalists exhibit the highest standard of quality and consistency.
Go deeper: The Director, Axios Bootcamp will have the following responsibilities:
- Develop and refine the strategic priorities for this new skills program, including experiential learning curriculum, stakeholder engagement, and ongoing learning evaluation
- Serve as a strategic partner to our editorial leaders regarding learning needs, development opportunities, and upholding our standards across the newsroom
- Over time, lead a small team to support the growth of the program to scale alongside the company
- Design and deliver engaging training sessions that result in the observable adoption of our Smart Brevity style and Axios’ standard of excellence
- Serve as a Smart Brevity evangelist and identify opportunities to strengthen its use across Axios to drive more effective communication and engagement

- Proven journalism and editing experience in a deadline-driven environment, allowing you to provide real-time feedback to journalists as they sharpen their skills
- Demonstrated facilitation expertise to engage employees in both virtual, in-person, and blended learning environments
- Exceptional writing and editing skills in a news environment
