JOB TITLE: Director, Compliance
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer
TYPE: Full Time, Exempt
LOCATION: Remote
ROLE SUMMARY:
The Director, Compliance is responsible for Healthmine’s compliance program approved by Healthmine’s Board of Directors, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer for day-to-day operations. This position ensures that the company functions in a legal and ethical manner while meeting its business goals. It oversees the adherence of different business units to company policies. The Director is considered the expert on company policies, processes, and regulator systems that govern the business operations both internally and externally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to regulatory reporting guidelines and filing deadlines through coordination across the organization and ensuring the organization has a clearly defined program for complying with laws and regulations
- Coordinate, review and update existing policies and procedures to adhere to our HITRUST certification and any other regulatory requirements for our clients, regulators, vendors, and employees
- Manage on-going review of materials and communication tools to ensure departments meet compliance requirements
- Ensure alignment with operations on cross-departmental project management in collaboration with the technical teams for HITRUST certification and re-certification
- Lead the alignment of cross-departmental project management of NCQA certifications and any other regulatory certification needed in current state and in the future
- Review Client contracts for alignment with all components of current and future business
- Identify critical stakeholders for policy content and oversee the regular review, revisions, and publications of the policy library
- Report on an ongoing basis to management concerning the organization’s adherence to the 7 Elements of an Effective Compliance Program
- Oversee and execute an organizational and third-party risk assessment, including prioritization and mitigation
- Act on non-compliance or at-risk situations, creating realistic plans to overcome them
- Conduct regular audits to identify potential weaknesses and noncompliance situations
- Chair the Compliance Team meetings (quarterly). Organize and own meeting content, minutes, metrics.
- Monitor completion of core training and policy attestations for employees at time of hire and annually thereafter
- Prepare annual (March) and interim (September) compliance program reports for BOD input and feedback, execute the Annual Training to the BOD and initiate annual attestations for training completion.
- Oversee of compliance ticket system for questions and issues received including escalation of issues as needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 7+ years of direct experience running compliance programs both working internally and with external support from consultants
- Experience with healthcare technology solutions, preferably SaaS products, around member engagement initiatives
- Extensive understanding of compliance and information security specifically around HITRUST certification and policies and procedures
- Strong project management skills and adherence to deadline driven business practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
