Accountabilities:

The Director, Finance will oversee the full finance and accounting function, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and strategic financial guidance. This role combines leadership, process optimization, financial planning, and technology-driven transformation to support sustainable business growth.

  • Own the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, improving efficiency and maintaining strong financial controls.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, banking partners, regulators, tax authorities, and other external stakeholders.
  • Provide financial insights, recommendations, and analysis to support executive decision-making and business strategy.
  • Oversee cash flow management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial operations.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis processes.
  • Support capital management strategies, cost optimization initiatives, and long-term financial planning.
  • Ensure new products, services, and business initiatives are properly integrated into financial systems and reporting frameworks.
  • Manage complex reconciliations across internal accounts, external partners, and financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing finance team by leading hiring, onboarding, coaching, and performance development.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Design and implement scalable finance processes, policies, and internal controls.
  • Drive adoption of automation, AI-powered solutions, and modern financial technologies to improve reporting, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align finance operations with broader organizational goals.
  • Define and monitor financial KPIs, delivering executive reporting on performance, opportunities, risks, and strategic recommendations.
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate is an experienced finance leader with a strong background in accounting, financial strategy, and operational scaling. They should combine technical finance expertise with leadership capabilities, business judgment, and experience implementing modern financial systems and processes.

    • CPA designation required, with strong knowledge of Canadian accounting standards and financial practices.
    • 10+ years of progressive finance experience, including 5+ years in a senior finance leadership position.
    • Proven experience building, managing, and developing high-performing finance teams.
    • Strong expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, controls, and financial analysis.
    • Demonstrated ability to improve finance processes and implement technology-driven solutions.
    • Experience leveraging automation, AI tools, or modern financial platforms to increase efficiency and accuracy.
    • Strong strategic thinking, analytical capabilities, and data-driven decision-making skills.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
    • Experience working in fintech, payments, SaaS, or technology-driven environments is strongly preferred.
    • Experience supporting organizations through periods of rapid growth and operational scaling is an advantage.
    • Ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on execution in a dynamic environment.
