At Fictiv, we’re building a company that is developing the operating system for sourcing custom mechanical parts. We already enjoy manufacturing and delivering highly complex, high quality parts for our Fortune 500 customers who are building the future with products like autonomous electric vehicles, surgical systems, and industrial robots. As we expand our services to our customer base, we are looking to expand our manufacturing operations into various global regions. As such, we are searching for an experienced and adept operations leader with exceptional knowledge in international logistics.
In your role as the Director of Global Logistics, you will leverage your leadership, managerial, supply chain, logistics, and compliance expertise as well as superb planning and communication skills to expand and drive excellence within our transportation service offerings. With an understanding of our business-level strategy, customer needs and Fictiv growth plans, you will own the development and implementation of the logistics services & network strategy for Fictiv. You will work extensively cross-functionally with leaders in Sales, Marketing, Product, IT, Finance, Sourcing, Program Management, and Quality in order to develop and hone the strategy for your team and ensure the proper integration of that strategy into our Platform and back-end business systems. Additionally, you will leverage your knowledge and network to establish strategic, high quality logistics partnerships and staff, manage and consistently develop an experienced group of international logistics professionals.
In this role, you will ultimately be responsible for the capabilities, performance, and cost competitiveness of our Logistics network to consistently deliver on-time to our customers needs while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations and minimizing cost overages.
This role will report into the Vice President of Core Operations.
What You’ll Be DoingLeadership
You set the tone and establish the standard for the Logistics function. You are responsible for working with functional leaders to ensure Fictiv’s core values, standard of excellence, and business ethics are upheld.
You provide the direction, leadership and communication necessary to achieve expected business results and operating plan goals for the logistics team.
Staffing & People Management
Collaborate with Talent Acquisition, and HR to hire, onboard, develop, performance manage, and, when necessary, exit employees.
Staff and Manage an overseas Center of Excellence composed of Logistics professionals to serve transportation, export and import needs across Fictiv’s global operating footprint.
Logistics Strategy & Management
Strategy Development and Implementation: Translate company strategy into a defined strategy for Fictiv’s logistics. Work closely with your team as well as cross functional leaders to translate Fictiv’s logistics strategy into roadmap that is supported across the organization (e.g. by Product, IT, Finance, etc). And own the successful execution against and implementation of that strategy.
Execution: Ensure operational excellence of your team and Fictiv’s logistics service providers. Track, manage, and report on KPIs that provide visibility to the performance of logistics and shed light on opportunities for continuous improvement.
Carrier Management: Create the playbook for and oversee the execution of the qualification, onboarding, and management of express consignment carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics service providers to meet the needs of Fictiv’s customers.
Standardization: Ensure standardization (with allowance for regionalization, as necessary) of Fictiv’s logistics network design, strategy, and processes. Ultimately responsible for ensuring that Logistics policies, processes and work instructions are defined, understood, and executed against in all regions.
Compliance
Partner with Fictiv’s legal team and, when necessary, third party firms to ensure legal and trade compliance of global logistics operations.
Ensure proper import and export documentation record keeping.
-Â B.S. in Logistics, Supply Chain, or Business or relevant experience. Masters or MBA a plus.
-Â Min 10+ years of education plus work experience.
-Â Minimum 7 years of people management experience. History of acting as a people-first leader and a motivator.
-Â You are meticulous, detail-oriented, and have an inclination for documentation
-Â You have unquestionable ethical standards.
-Â Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-Â Data driven, history of data-based decision making.
-Â Experience with managing transportation, export and import operations across a global footprint. Experience exporting from China and India.
-Â Extremely clear and low-context communication. Great verbal and written communication skills.
-Â System-level thinker with a penchant for defining processes.
-Â High level of agility. Can move from operational to tactical and back quickly.
-Â Licensed US Customs Broker preferred but not required.
-Â Applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S. and physically be in the U.S
-Â Must be able to travel 15-30% of the time for work
