Director of Business Development, Sustainability Programs

Overview:

Locus Agriculture is seeking a Director of Business Development, Sustainability Programs to join our growing team! Reporting to the CEO of Locus Agriculture, you will be integral in identifying and nurturing strategic relationships with partners interested in our sustainability programs while working along side marketing, sales, product development, and our carbon data teams! Our sustainability programs focus on: soil carbon sequestration, fertilizer reduction, GHG reductions, water quality improvement, enteric methane emissions, etc. If you are a highly organized, adaptable, collaborative individual who likes to help build companies and programs, this position is for you! Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

• Identify, develop, and maintain strategic relationships with partners or potential customers.
• Develop a pipeline of opportunities with associated sales activities to support finalizing a partnership.
• Understand, articulate, and position our sustainability programs as solutions to prospective partners.
• Drive the end-to-end sale of sustainability programs. Negotiate contract terms and communicate any abnormalities.
• Support the data team with information needs according to the program guidelines.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to create and implement processes and policies to support the overall business.
• Keep up to date with regulation regarding our sustainability programs to develop the strategy and address nuances.
• Engage with the scientific community, industry, and farming community to understand key spheres of influence. Support strategic relationships through education of our sustainability programs.
• Collaborate with the SVP of Sustainability and Strategy to understand various sustainability protocols, policies, and standards both within the US and internationally to help guide sustainability platforms.
• Provide support to R&D activities related to sustainability programs in the R&D phase.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in agricultural, policy, or related.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a business development or strategic partnership role for sustainability programs specific to agriculture.
• Strong proficiency using Microsoft Email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Google docs, and collaboration tools.
• Ability to travel up to 50% including overnight travel as needed.
