Chartboost is the leading in-app monetization and programmatic advertising platform. We reach a global audience of over 700 million monthly active users and process over 2.7 trillion monthly advertising auctions. The Chartboost SDK is one the most widely integrated mobile ad SDKs and through the Chartboost Exchange, Ad Network, DSP and other services, we empower mobile app developers to build businesses, while connecting advertisers to highly engaged audiences.

Chartboost is looking for an experienced engineering leader to grow and manage our engineering office in Barcelona. We’re seeking someone that knows how to attract, motivate, and lead a world-class engineering team and be the voice of our engineering operations in Europe to the rest of the organization.

Some of the technologies we use:

  • Our ad serving platforms are built in Scala and Go, hosted on GCP
  • Our data platform leverages the GCP Data ecosystem
  • Our mobile SDKs and tools are built with Objective-C, Swift, Kotlin and Java.
  • Our dashboard, services and tools leverage React and Python (Flask), SQL, MongoDB, SQS, S3 and more.

Experience with components of our stack is a bonus, but not required. In this role, you will have the opportunity to evaluate new technologies and use them to design better and more reliable systems. 

Impact you will make:

  • Establish, enforce, and evolve engineering best practices and help us grow our world-class engineering team in Barcelona  
  • Build our employment brand throughout Europe to attract and retain the best available talent
  • Hire and onboard new engineers to the team
  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers and engineering managers with varying levels of experience
  • Lead with a positive mindset, a can-do, no-nonsense attitude
  • Collaborate closely with US-based Engineering Leaders, Product Managers and cross-functional teams to define, prioritize, implement, maintain and improve features, small and large, on all our internal and external platforms, services and products.
  • Ensure the quality of releases, by raising the bar for Engineering excellence and rigor, and leveraging automated and/or manual QA as needed
  • Participate to our on-call and shepherd our teams through major production problems

Who you are:

  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Hands-on engineering background - you’re someone who is able to understand and help solve complex engineering problems
  • A proven record of growing engineering organizations with a minimum of 7 years in a management role
  • Experience developing, coaching, mentoring and leading engineering managers and engineers
  • Experience working effectively with design and product organizations, on projects of varying complexity and priority, while coordinating dependencies within cross-functional engineering environments
  • Ability to evaluate and learn new technologies
  • Experience working with diverse and distributed teams across different time zones

The following experience would be a plus:

  • AdTech, and in building and managing large, scalable, high-throughput, distributed systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English, Spanish
