Job Description:
The Director of Engineering, Skills for Pluralsight will have responsibility for the maintenance and delivery of key features or aspects of our product that ensure that our customers are championed and delighted. You will have visibility and input into how we accomplish key business priorities and will be relied upon to prioritize technical engineering considerations and workstreams to meet those objectives.
You will work closely with all parts of our engineering organization, driving priorities and empowering Software Engineers with the tools necessary for them to deliver. You will partner with a Product Director over the same area. We're looking for someone with experience building a SaaS product, crafting and communicating internal engineering processes, and leading Software Engineers to fulfill their potential while keeping a collaborative and service-minded direction with their teams.

What you'll own:
  • Product Excellence: The technology and components to delight our users, improve quality, and reduce the cost of support and maintenance of your product.
  • A Reliable Experience: holding yourself accountable to ensure the product meets or exceeds the contracted SLA uptime, security SLAs, and associated data and process regulatory requirements.
  • Growth of Team: guiding opportunities, growth, and professional development of the engineers on your team.
  • Interpersonal relationships: A direct and deep relationship with other engineering leaders and team members across geographies in our global organization.
  • Product Strategy: inform the product strategy by bringing technical perspective to the conversations.
  • Product Champion: using Pluralsight's own products across your group to achieve strategic goals.

Experience you'll need:
  • Extensive experience leading technical teams that support and partner with international technology and product peers.
  • Extensive experience shipping cloud services, with technical depth to be active in decisions about the architectural investments.
  • Proven ability to focus technical work on the top business priorities, and to be accountable for strategic outcomes.
  • Hands-on software development experience and credibility with the hands-on teams of engineers.
  • Experience with API management, product instrumentation, analytics, continuous development and integration, and security and audit concerns.
  • Leadership and mentoring experience as a technical lead, team lead, or manager.
  • Built strong cross-team and cross-department partnership skills for co-creating agreements.
  • Experience working with multiple of the following technologies: Node.js, React, Python, C#, Typescript.
