Director of Engineering Operations

We are looking for a Director of Engineering Operations to join this newly created role as a senior leader in the Engineering team. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you will lead a team of DevOps, second level Application Support, IT & Security to deliver on and improve IT processes, practices and projects. You will have strong expertise as a technical and operational leader , see the big picture, create and execute on plans, and think critically about strategy. You will lead a set of teams that technically operate the Brightflag Saas application hosted in AWS cloud. 

What You Will Be Doing

• Develop a best in class Engineering Operations strategy, and drive execution of that strategy
• Prioritisation and leadership of workstreams to achieve strategic objectives
• Responsible for developing, improving and scaling Engineering Operations processes, practices and ways of working
• Provide leadership to the Engineering Operations teams by driving engagement and performance and nurturing career growth through a coaching approach. Mentor function Leads and Managers, enabling them to lead their teams effectively
• Responsible for SLAs across the Brightflag Saas product systems and processes, ensure objectives are met in line with established timelines
• Partner with the Director of Engineering to deliver a high quality and reliable SaaS product to our customers
• Collaborate with department heads and other Directors if there are any escalated issues and formulate plans to address them 
• Collaborate with compliance team to ensure processes and strategy are in line with information security policies, procedures and certifications (ISO 27001, SOC2)

To be successful in the role, you need:

• Previous IT / technical leadership experience in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to lead teams in delivering technology solutions, service delivery, operations, infrastructure, and cloud solutions.
• Strong understanding of the relevant technologies, methodologies, service delivery, best practices, processes, KPIs and business metrics.
• Excellent people management skills, enabling and developing team members and managers in a manner that is consistent with company values
• Demonstrated ability to utilise knowledge of multiple disciples to make effective decisions and implement solutions
• Previous experience in thinking critically about strategy and see the big picture while  creating and executing plans
• Communicate effectively and able to build trust and work well with a diverse group of people
• Demonstrated ability to work in a self-motivated manner but within a collaborative team environment
• Knowledge of current and emerging technology, technology directions and strategic application to business needs
• Experiencing in leadership of enterprise application delivery and technical operations in an AWS cloud environment
• IT security and compliance environment, ISO27001, SOC2 or similar
