Director of Product, Talent Growth

As the Director, Talent Growth, you will lead a team that focuses on creating a delightful experience for talent looking to offer their skills and time to help clients get work done. You will evolve our talent growth strategy and empower your team to build high quality experiences across acquisition, activation, and engagement in a way that builds trust with the talent and help them earn meaningful income and build a successful career. This team is responsible for helping millions of new and experienced freelancers discover Upwork, grow their income, build long-lasting client relationships and gain joy and fulfillment for the work they are able to do on our platform. This is an exciting opportunity to own critical parts of the Upwork product and be part of the team that helps Upwork achieve its mission of creating economic opportunities so people have better lives.

• Lead teams such as Acquisition, Onboarding, Retention to build great experiences for new visitors and experienced customers
• Be accountable for creating great Growth practices, and up-leveling our experimentation, data, customer research, and planning activities
• Develop and evolve our customer growth strategy to deliver scalable user growth across multiple geographies and categories
• Collaborate with Engineering and Design counterparts to establish a strong partnership among all scrum teams
• Connect strategy and teams' roadmaps to that of other product and experience teams, as well as cross functional partners’ to ensure that we're building collectively for the right outcomes

• Strong Track record of understanding and implementing Growth frameworks successfully and in a variety of situations.
• Demonstrate mastery in making data-driven decisions (both quantitative and qualitative), but supplemented by intuition through deep understanding of customer pain points and needs.
• Strong experience in leading a team to not only build a strategy, but to bring it to life effectively through developing tactics, plans and operational rigor
• Bias towards high velocity learning and action
• Experience hiring, and developing highly performant Growth teams
• Passion for marketplace products, the future of work, and building for impact worldwide
