About the RoleWe are looking for a Director of Recruiting, India to join our People team at Cockroach Labs in Bangalore, India. You will work on scaling and accomplishing an end-to-end recruitment process for a variety of positions, most of which will be for our engineering team. You’ll work closely with our India Site leader and the management team to understand how recruiting ties into the business and work on roles that will create the most value for the business. You will be responsible for driving strategic initiatives that require strong partnerships with executives, our People team, and other key stakeholders. Reporting to the Vice President of Global Recruiting, this position will be a member of the Recruiting Leadership team. You will be a dynamic and creative thinker, a non-traditional recruiting leader with experience in strategic planning, India talent markets, and a focused approach to building an effective talent acquisition organization that delivers high-quality candidates with a world-class candidate experience. You will be metrics-driven, building a culture of accountability and a solid sense of performance outcomes.Â
You Will- Identify, hire, and develop exceptional talentÂ
- Provide thought leadership in staffing management, workforce planning, organization design, and location planning.
- Resolve and/or develop relevant staffing systems and recruiting tools, technology, and methodologies for building a cutting-edge organization that remains ahead of the competition
- Ability to identify and attract unique candidate skill sets in a highly competitive marketplace
- Ability to demonstrate social media and recruiting networking
- Define plans and quarterly OKRs to execute against key objectives and roadmap.
- Create and implement the methodologies and processes to ensure an extraordinary candidate and manager experience
- Establish systems of accountability and performance standards
- Build strong partnerships with HR, Finance, Legal, Operations, and Executive Management to develop and assess workforce plans, budgets, and hiring forecasts in existing and emerging markets in order to deliver the right talent when and where it’s needed.
- Represent Cockroach Labs in the local technical communities in India
- Maintain and adhere to the departmental budget
- Establish relationships with local universities to build and drive an effective intern and early career program
In your first 30 days, you will review the hiring plan and understand what our priorities are for the next 3 months. We believe that it's essential for you to take this first month to become familiar with our recruiting process, technology, and our company. You will also meet with key stakeholders across the organization and understand their business needs and India expansion efforts. Most importantly, you will spend time learning about Cockroach Labs and our culture so you can continue to bring our unique employer brand to the world.Â
In your first 60 days, you will be fully integrated into the team. You will do your first of many hiring kick-offs for new open roles. You’ll focus on the efficiency of our recruiting process and identify areas for improvement for our interviews. You will also contribute to the creation of our recruiting team's OKRs and communicate outcomes to the organization. You will identify short-term opportunities to make an immediate impact while leveraging your depth of expertise in designing recruiting models for India to start molding longer-term strategy and vision.
After 90 days, you will be leading our recruiting strategy and creating new, innovative programs with the India team. You will have successfully built a strong foundation with senior management across Cockroach Labs to ensure the success of this strategy. Most importantly, you will have built strong bonds with the recruiting team to ensure high performance as we continue to scale in India.   Â
You HaveDesired Experience
- Technical knowledge is a plus in software development technologies. Proven success in one or more core areas of staffing functional leadership.
- Experienced knowledge of recruiting activities, including candidate sourcing, recruitment strategy design and implementation, screening and assessment in a high growth, and forward-thinking environment.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate, influence change, and provide strategic leadership within a matrix structure.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to work well with tools, metrics, data, and market trends.
- Demonstrable ability to quickly come up to speed and work well with a variety of leaders and executives.
Requirements:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience 8+ years of related work experience in recruiting at a technology company (e.g., SaaS, Cloud, Storage, etc.). 5+ years of experience in internet sourcing. 5+ years of people management experience including leading remotely and global teams
- Strong computer skills and experience with applicant tracking systems are desired
- A passion for working on highly technical roles in the technology industry. We have a high hiring bar and know that it is only getting more challenging to hire engineering talent as industry competition increases.
- Experience with closing senior-level candidates and negotiating equity-driven compensation packages.
- Are comfortable working with multi-functional teams to hire back-end and full-stack engineering managers and individual contributors. You’re interested in expanding your recruiting expertise, working on non-technical priority roles, which include marketing, sales, general, and administrative teams.

Lynette Estrada joined us at the end of July as the VP of Global Recruiting. She is responsible for leading our recruiting strategy, team, and talent philosophy. She has built a career growing teams at enterprise tech companies. At Cockroach Labs, she is looking forward to providing her unique blend of authentic and servant leadership, hands-on recruiting experience, recruiting strategy, and infrastructure across recruiting operations and employer branding. Her philosophy is to accelerate hiring without sacrificing quality by providing a stellar candidate experience while educating potential prospects on the company's mission, culture, and values.
