Position Description

The Director of Sustainability and ESG will lead the development of and oversee sustainability, ESG, and CSR policies and procedures for Origis Energy’s operations. The Director of Sustainability and ESG works across all levels of Origis to collect data, assess and report on our sustainability performance relative to our own goals and to the performance of our peers.  The Director of Sustainability and ESG ensures compliance with the relevant regulatory and shareholder-driven standards and makes recommendations on future policy and action to ensure a best-in-class sustainability program.

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

Strategy development

  • Develop and coordinate strategy that advances Origis Energy and its business unit’s sustainability goals in line with its business activities and helps the company differentiate itself amongst competitors
  • Oversee implementation of sustainability strategy and roadmap, and monitor progress and identify areas where Origis Energy can improve environmental and social impact
  • Develop and maintain an ESG dashboard, including targets and action plans, to be shared with functional leaders and the executive team
  • Continuously monitor performance against corporate sustainability goals and conduct regular benchmarking of Origis Energy’s sustainability/ESG performance against peers, and against industry trends and best practices.
  • Proactively identify issues, risks, opportunities, and trends that may impact the company from an ESG, sustainability, and corporate responsibility perspective
  • Partner with different functions to increase overall sustainability/ESG awareness and enhance understanding and integration of ESG factors into their respective areas
  • Review corporate emergency preparedness response and all related compliance documents

Data collection and reporting

  • Work closely with Origis Energy, its business unit including Origis Services and Antin Infrastructure Partners teams to assist with collection of KPIs
  • Convene internal sustainability/ESG conversations to drive corporate strategy; produce recommendations on action, policy or behavior change; work with internal stakeholders to enact these recommendations and develop a cohesive narrative around them
  • Monitor the effectiveness of ESG policies, processes and procedures, update in accordance with changes in laws, regulations and corporate directives

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • 8+ years of professional experience with significant work in Environmental Sustainability, ESG, and/or Corporate Social Responsibility programs
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science/Design/Engineering or Renewable Energy or related field encouraged
  • Strong ESG knowledge, including sustainability, climate related risks and opportunities as well as ESG reporting and up-to-date with the development of global ESG standards
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the relevant ESG levers for the solar/renewable energy industry
  • The ability to influence and catalyze change to improve ESG performance through the application of exceptional interpersonal, relationship-building, influencing and collaboration skills
  • Outstanding communication with all levels of stakeholders including employees, management, Board, and regulators
  • Advanced skills in writing and report preparation are required
  • Strong quantitative skills and established analytical ability
  • Experience and familiar with key ESG Standards and Reporting Frameworks including UN Sustainable Development Goals, GRI, TCFD, SASB, CDP, CDSB, IIRC etc.

Job Level:   Director - no direct reports

Travel:   Approximately 25% travel to sites and offices as needed

Location: Miami, FL; Austin, TX; or San Diego, CA strongly preferred. Remote an option for the right person.
