This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Product Design - Wholesale based in Canada.

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on design leader to shape the future of a B2B commerce platform connecting brands and retailers worldwide.
This role combines product vision, team leadership, and design excellence to create intuitive experiences for complex business workflows.
You will lead a talented design team while remaining deeply connected to the craft through reviews, critiques, and product decisions.
As a key member of the product leadership team, you will influence strategy, roadmap direction, and customer outcomes.
You will help transform complex, relationship-driven processes into seamless digital experiences that deliver measurable business value.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will define the product design vision, elevate design standards, and build a high-performing team that delivers exceptional experiences for a two-sided B2B platform. You will collaborate closely with product and engineering leaders to shape strategy, solve complex problems, and ensure design drives meaningful outcomes.

  • Establish and execute a clear design vision that aligns customer needs, business goals, and product strategy.
  • Lead and mentor a team of product designers, providing coaching, feedback, career development, and hands-on design guidance.
  • Maintain a high quality bar through design critiques, reviews, and direct involvement in key product initiatives.
  • Translate ambiguous strategic opportunities into clear design direction, priorities, and actionable product experiences.
  • Partner with product and engineering leadership to influence roadmap decisions and ensure design is integrated throughout the development process.
  • Create consistency across the product experience by improving fragmented user journeys and establishing scalable design practices.
  • Manage team capacity, priorities, and resources while fostering a collaborative and inclusive design culture.
  • Advocate for customer-centered design decisions and continuously improve how design contributes to business success.
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate is an experienced product design leader with strong strategic thinking, exceptional design judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in complex product environments. You should bring a balance of leadership experience, hands-on expertise, and strong cross-functional influence.

    • 12+ years of product design experience, including significant experience with complex platforms such as B2B software, marketplaces, or commerce products.
    • 7+ years of experience leading and developing product design teams.
    • Strong portfolio demonstrating the ability to guide product, interaction, and visual design decisions.
    • Experience operating as a hands-on leader who remains connected to the details of the design process.
    • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and shape product strategy through compelling communication and design work.
    • Strong product thinking with the ability to challenge assumptions and understand the “why” behind business decisions.
    • Experience navigating ambiguity, change, and fast-moving environments while keeping teams aligned and motivated.
    • Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
