Are you looking to secure airplay for the best in country music, exposing radio listeners to the sounds of up-and-coming and well-established Sony Music Nashville talent? As a Director, Promotion & Artist Development, you will play a key role in supporting the team to help our artists deliver music to their fans. Your role allows you to use your exceptional communication skills and your motivation to get the job done by proactively promoting airplay and exposure for Sony Music Nashville (SMN) artists under the Columbia imprint. This role requires interaction with members of senior management and other high-level internal and external contacts across the radio space. You will work alongside a cohesive team to implement radio promotion plans for assigned artists, ensuring airplay goals are achieved while increasing visibility and sales.

Through creating and maintaining meaningful relationships across the Southeast Region (Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Virginia and the Carolinas), this position is responsible for creating and maximizing airplay, promotions and partnerships with radio stations / programmers. You should understand the importance of operating with integrity and building a personal reputation for consistent quality that reflect the company’s principles and quality of music and artists.  In addition, this position is responsible for knowing and understanding the markets themselves and additional opportunities that exist in market to help overall artist development. 

What you'll do:
  • Develop and implement airplay strategies for all label artists within a specified region
  • Implement campaigns to benefit and break artists and projects in country format
  • Develop, cultivate and leverage relationships with staff at 40+ radio stations
  • Help create and develop album launch plans for label artists
  • Travel to multiple markets
  • Develop promotional plans around tour dates utilizing contest, interviews, and meet and greets.
  • Manage on-site promotion at label artist's shows
  • Work cross-functionally within Sony Music Nashville teams to develop plans to drive airplay
  • Manage travel and entertainment budgets
  • Organize and maintain multiple SMN reports and administrative responsibilities
  • Develop trade advertising campaigns for singles
Who you are:
  • A people, idea and opportunity “connector” in the industry with a minimum of 3 years of experience in record promotion with proven track record of exceeding company-defined goals
  • A team player who is located in the southeast territory and willing to work nights, weekends and extended hours, with an ability to travel domestically up to 90% (including overnight, out-of-town by air, car, bus or train), sometimes on short notice
  • A self-starter with extensive knowledge of the music industry (preferably focused in the country music space), particularly the role of airplay in driving sales and understanding unique geographic opportunities for artists
  • A creative team member with strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express thoughts clearly and succinctly and execute multiple projects with effective resolution of conflicting priorities
  • An agile thinker who can consciously shift priorities and focus areas when and how the situation requires it, showing an adaptability to pivoting thoughts, plans and processes.
