Job Description

F&G is hiring for a Director, Retail Product & Sales Training.This role will oversee training and development programs for our sales teams in the Retail Retirement Distribution sector. This role will equip teams with product knowledge, sales skills, and market insights to effectively engage stakeholders, drive sales growth, and maximize revenue. The Director will collaborate with Product Management, Sales, and Compliance teams to develop and deliver comprehensive training initiatives, while also engaging external stakeholders such as distributors and financial professionals.

Responsibilities

Short-term Focus Areas:

  • In partnership with Distribution Leadership: Develop and execute a training strategyincluding formulating and implementing a comprehensive training strategy, defining objectives, identifying a target audience, and selecting suitable delivery methods.
  • Create and deliver training on product knowledge, sales techniques, and product positioning: Develop and conduct training that enhances understanding of our products, equip the sales teams with effective sales techniques, and enable them to effectively position our offerings.
  • Collaborate with Product teams to ensure up-to-date product information: Work closely with the Product teams to stay informed about the latest product offerings, features, and benefits, ensuring that training materials reflect the most current information.
  • Partner with Sales leaders to identify training needs and assess effectiveness: Collaborate with Sales leaders to identify specific training requirements, design tailored training plans, and regularly evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the training initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops using various formats: Deliver training sessions and workshops in diverse formats, such as in-person sessions, virtual sessions, workshops, or e-learning modules, to address knowledge gaps and enhance the skills of the sales teams.

Long-term Focus Areas:

  • Continuously assess and update training materials to reflect changes in products, market trends, and regulations.
  • Monitor and evaluate sales team performance, providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to incorporate relevant insights into training.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure training aligns with regulatory guidelines.
  • Track and report on training effectiveness to senior management.
  • Align competitive intelligence insights with training initiatives, empowering sales teams to adapt strategies.
  • Gather feedback from the Competitive Intelligence team to identify additional training or support needs.
  • Communicate actionable competitive intelligence insights to support training objectives and keep sales teams ahead in the market.

 Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • 8+ years experience in product training, sales training, or a related field, preferably in the annuity market.
  • 3+ years experience leading a team
  • Proven track record of developing and delivering effective training programs that drive sales results.
  • This position may necessitate a securities license and other insurance licenses (Life and Health) as the individual will engage with external distribution partners. The timeframe for obtaining the license is six months from the date of notification.

  • Strong knowledge of annuity products, investment vehicles, and related regulations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire learners.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify training needs and measure training effectiveness.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships with cross-functional teams, including Product Pricing, Sales, Marketing, and Compliance.
  • Familiarity with various training methodologies, technologies, and learning management systems.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry best practices and trends.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, including requisite communications skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to collaborate with a wide range of teams and individuals to achieve a common goal
  • Demonstrated understanding of various life insurance and/or annuity markets, distribution partners, products and product categories, and insurance operations along with the ability to address the various stakeholder needs
  • Inclined to seek and analyze data/information from a variety of sources to arrive at the best decisions and to align others with the organization’s overall strategy
  • Ability to demonstrate creative problem-solving skills and strong business acumen
  • Ability to lead and excel in a fast-paced production environment while addressing multiple projects and responsibilities
  • Unconditional integrity and commitment to delivering accurate information on schedule
  • Appropriate priority setting, resource assessment, and delivery management
