Job Description
- Undergraduate degree in business, human resources, or related subject is preferred but not essential; work experience will also be considered
- Appropriate HR Certification desired (PHR, SPHR, GPHR, CIPD, etc.)
Major Tasks:
- Review and assign ER cases to team members as appropriate; including concerns raised through employee portal, global action line, senior leadership, etc.
- Speak directly with employees to gather details on workplace concerns and document properly in case management system
- Works with leaders on non-complex routine performance issues, behavior/workplace concerns, and provides early-stage coaching
- Handle cases independently with leader in accordance with established ER processes including job abandonment and rehire eligibility requests
- Advises on some formal processes in accordance with Labcorp policies and appropriate regulatory guidelines. (i.e., attendance issues, failure to follow SOPs, quality issues, basic investigations, and performance matters)
- Participates in various employee relations projects and activities
- Coordinates information with other ER team members to ensure compliance with federal state and local requirements
- Assists with coordination and delivery of training for leaders
- Works with the metrics team to supply additional intelligence around case numbers for their business unit
- Coordinates other tasks for the ER leadership team as necessary
- Acts as liaison with HRSD and Leaves team (US) to ensure cases are appropriately managed between the groups
- Assists with compiling documentation required for litigation
- May be required to work across the global team as appropriate
Experience/skills required:
- HR experience and interest in employee relations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues
- Ability to ask probing questions to ensure detailed and accurate information is placed into the case details
- Ability to summarize cases succinctly
- Good prioritization skills and ability to focus on time-sensitive issues
- Ability to problem solve with minimal guidance but willingness to ask for help if appropriate
- Flexibility and willingness to deal with competing priorities and assist others as needed in a team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong team player
Experience/skills preferred:
- Awareness of multiple HR disciplines and processes (i.e., compensation, benefits, talent acquisition)
- Basic knowledge of relevant employment and labor laws
- Familiarity with case management tools and Microsoft Office
- Proven customer service focus and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Labcorp policies and ability to refer managers and employees to relevant policies, tools, documents, etc.
- Ability to look at a process and try and find ways to improve it
Pay: $60,000.00 to $80,000.00 anual
