Job Description
Job Summary:
As an Engineering Lead – Storage, you will be focused on the strategic continuous improvement of the global storage infrastructure. This is a multi-technology environment (with a core focus on Hitachi and NetApp), and you will be tasked to drive design, development, lifecycle and simplification efforts to create a robust, easy to operate storage environment that will meet the businesses needs both in the current iteration and for future predicted workloads and use-case drivers.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement integrated storage solutions with a strategic view to continue to deliver against the business needs over a 5-year lifespan.
- Lead development lifecycle strategy for storage infrastructure, ensuring solutions remain cutting-edge and scalable.
- Provide expert guidance and technical expertise to teams and projects as consulted.
- Develop strategies for the integration of storage technologies with existing systems, optimizing performance and compatibility.
- Contribute to the creation of operational procedures, system configurations, and best practices documentation.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in storage solutions, applying this knowledge to drive innovation within the organization.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of Hitachi or NetApp storage architectures, and solid understanding of the second technology as well as EMC and other primary vendor products.
- In-depth knowledge of storage interconnectivity, both Fiber channel and ethernet.
Preferred Qualifications:
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge:
- Demonstrable personal success in defining and executing a multi-year strategic position on storage architecture development
- Proficiency in Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Demonstrate previous outcomes in process improvement.
- Stakeholder engagement experience
- Documentation and education
- Cross-technology experience and confidence, particularly in networking and OS.
- Commercial positioning and business case development for high value investment to support strategic positions.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University; or 10 to 12 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Related Work Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Storage administration.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Storage engineering.
Working Conditions:
- Office environment.
- Travel as required.
