Engineering Manager- Quality Engineering

Checkr is looking for an Engineering Manager with hands-on Quality Engineering experience to improve and scale our quality practices to support a rapidly growing engineering organization. This role is responsible for increasing engineering productivity through improvements driven in the Quality Engineering Organization. You will manage multiple tenured quality engineers and a team specialized in quality engineering tooling to partner with all R&D teams to improve testing best practices, test suite performance and stability, and quantification of system health.

Checkr uses a decentralized approach to QE organization structure. Success in this role requires you to define the long term Quality Engineering strategy at Checkr, collaborate with all R&D teams to uplevel their team specific quality practices, and enable Checkr to expand its quality engineering organization through creation and evolution of our QE hiring, onboarding and training programs.

Your Responsibilities

• Facilitate org wide collaboration sessions to align all embedded QEs to the strategic vision
• Define, own, track, and report progress on Eng KRs via Haystack, Snowflake, Datadog
• Work with individual scrum teams to drive commitment to org level initiatives and understand team specific needs
• Refine Quality Engineering Strategy across the engineering org
• Strengthen our test automation strategy
• Align the QE Productivity team’s initiatives with the overall Quality Engineering Strategy
• Create interview panels for hiring QEs of all levels and participate in the hiring process
• Introducing best practices and new technologies from outside of Checkr
• Construct training programs for QEs to grow professionally at Checkr
• Increase breadth and depth of system knowledge across QE organization

What you bring

• 7+ years as a QE/SDET
• 3+ years as an Engineering Manager
• Proven track record of establishing quality assurance strategies and best practices for SaaS solutions
• Demonstrated success in leading initiatives requiring org-wide adoption and change management
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem-solving, and attention to detail
• Experience fostering a culture of high performance
• Able to develop inclusive teams to foster growth and diversity 
• Ready to mentor the team to grow by providing stretch assignments and opportunities relevant to their interests
• Interest in iterating and improving what processes and frameworks exist today
• Humility, openness to feedback, and eagerness to learn
