Engineering Manager, SMB

We’re growing and we are looking to add an Engineering Manager to our fast-paced and customer-oriented SMB Engineering Team.

Location: We’re a remote-first company and looking to hire this person anywhere between the PST - EST timezone.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage. You’ll guide, mentor, manage, and reward software engineers at all levels to create a high-performing team, and you’ll deep dive where you’re needed to unblock them.
• Plan. You’ll work closely with peers, management, and stakeholders to set strategic goals, shape the roadmap, and plan biweekly sprints based on company goals.
• Execute. You’ll run a nimble team that rolls out impactful features and enhancements with rapid iteration and testing.
• Optimize. You’ll hold a high bar for engineering excellence through design reviews and best practices, and you’ll own the performance, quality, and cloud cost optimization of your team’s systems.

Who You Are:

• Passionate manager. You’ve managed teams of engineers through multiple performance cycles, and it’s taught you that any company’s largest asset is the people. You’re happiest when your team is not just crushing their goals, but thriving and learning along the way.
• Bar raiser. You know all the software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations. More importantly, you use this knowledge to elevate the product and build a culture of ownership and pride on your team.
• Efficient executer. Simply put, you get s#*t done, and done well. You’re organized, prioritized, and customer-obsessed, and you can teach your team how to do the same for themselves. You’re an awesome collaborator, and you welcome debate because you know it brings us that much closer to a great solution.
• Credible developer. You’ve built infrastructure at scale on a Cloud platform (Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Azure), and you’re skilled at diving into technical problems through code review, debugging, and writing queries, but prefer to increase your impact by empowering your team.

Bonus Points:

• Deployed infrastructure as code with SDKs like AWS Cloud Development Kit.
• Experience with geographically distributed teams.
• Background in e-commerce and a general familiarity with the e-commerce ecosystem.
• Worked at a growth startup.
