This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Executive Director, Market Access based in the United States.

This senior commercial leadership role is responsible for shaping and executing market access strategies that ensure appropriate coverage and reimbursement for key oncology assets across U.S. payer, provider, and institutional channels. The position plays a critical role in bridging commercial, medical, and access functions to support successful product launches and long-term adoption. It requires deep expertise in managed markets, payer dynamics, and oncology reimbursement landscapes, with the ability to influence complex stakeholder networks. Acting as a key driver of national account strategy, the role supports the design and execution of pre-launch and launch readiness initiatives. It also serves as a central connector between field and headquarters teams, ensuring alignment across pricing, contracting, HEOR, and access marketing. This is a highly strategic, cross-functional leadership role with direct impact on commercial success in a fast-moving biotech environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead market access strategy and account management across national and regional payers, PBMs, GPOs, Medicaid, VA/DoD, and other key healthcare channels.
  • Drive pre-commercial and launch readiness activities to secure coverage and reimbursement for oncology assets across assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate closely with Trade, Patient Services, Medical Affairs, Payer Marketing, Pricing, and HEOR teams to align go-to-market strategies.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on managed markets, payer structures, and access dynamics to inform cross-functional decision-making.
  • Act as the primary liaison between field teams and headquarters to ensure consistent execution and communication across market access functions.
  • Develop and evaluate contracting and reimbursement proposals to support product uptake and favorable market positioning.
  • Incorporate external market intelligence, payer insights, and stakeholder mapping into strategic planning and execution.
  • Support the development of national account structures and operating models in collaboration with commercial leadership.
  • Monitor market trends, access barriers, and policy developments to proactively adjust strategy and execution.
  • Ensure alignment of market access initiatives with overall commercial and organizational objectives.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree with 15+ years, Master’s degree with 12+ years, or PhD with 8+ years of relevant experience in market access or managed markets.
    • At least 15 years of experience in managed markets account management, ideally within oncology or specialty pharmaceuticals.
    • Proven leadership experience at director or executive level, with responsibility for strategy development and team or functional leadership.
    • Strong expertise in payer dynamics, reimbursement systems, and U.S. healthcare access channels.
    • Experience in biotech or startup environments strongly preferred, with ability to operate in fast-paced, evolving organizations.
    • Demonstrated success influencing cross-functional stakeholders and leading complex, multi-channel access strategies.
    • Strong strategic thinking, negotiation, and communication skills with the ability to operate at both tactical and executive levels.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across commercial, medical, and operational teams in a matrixed environment.
    • Strong understanding of oncology market access, trade practices, and institutional payer structures.
    • Leadership style aligned with accountability, collaboration, and driving results in a remote-first environment.
