Description of Role

You’re quick to spot any discrepancies and believe in always receiving fair value. You love diving deep into the details in search of opportunity, then sharing the insights you generate with others.
As a Financial Planning Analyst at Wild Alaskan you will work with stakeholders throughout the company to analyze, model, and report on revenues and expenses. Your work will provide the insights to continuously improve business operations, inform contract negotiations, and help shape strategy. Working particularly closely with the Procurement and Operations teams, you will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on seafood and commodity market costs, tracking cost saving initiatives, compiling a regular competitive pricing analysis, supporting the forecasting and budgeting process and performing other ad-hoc financial modeling as needed.
This is a full time, remote position, reporting to Wild Alaskan’s VP of Finance and Business Operations. As the first person to inhabit this role, you will be part of helping build a top-notch finance team.
Core Responsibilities
- Develop and manage tracking and reporting of seafood and other key commodity costs, market trends
- Use market data, regression analysis, and statistical modeling to support the development of effective sourcing strategies that ensure supply and minimize risk
- Monitor and report relevant KPIs to track performance and continuously improve sourcing practices
- Develop and maintain a competitive pricing analysis to inform pricing and product offering strategy
- Track and report on the results of supply chain cost saving initiatives
- Prepare presentations to contextualize research, analyses, findings, and implications
- Support forecasting of required inventory levels based upon projected usage, market costs and seasonality
- Create models and dashboards to aid in planning
- Complete ad-hoc financial analysis (e.g., vendor analysis, scaling costs, opportunity costs, breakeven time, etc.) to support decision-making and quantify the expected impacts of strategic initiatives
- Collaborate with accounting in analysis of monthly financial statements, updates to rolling financial projections, and quarterly planning and budgeting process
- Help support requirements development, platform selection, and implementation for financial planning and business intelligence systems
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Supply Chain Management, Accounting or related field; MBA a plus
- Demonstrated track record of excellence with 2+ years of relevant experience in management consulting, corporate finance, and/or complex supply chain environment
- Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills and expertise in data analysis
- Expert-level spreadsheet skills
- Experience with databases, Looker (or comparable BI visualization platform)
- Working knowledge of SQL, at least some familiarity with spreadsheet scripting (e.g., VBA, google app script
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills
- Sterling work ethic, able to consistently deliver clear and complete work on schedule
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively and succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced and constantly changing environment
- Proactivity; a self-starter who is not afraid to seek out projects independently and propose solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; comfortable giving and receiving feedback
Nice to Haves
- Prior experience in high-growth startup, ideally eCommerce
- Prior experience as part of a remote-first company
- Familiarity/comfort with emerging financial analysis & reporting tools
- Passion for sustainability and seafood
The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 - $100,000, commensurate with skills and experience. Wild Alaskan’s benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance, 401k, PTO, safe/sick time, vacation, parental leave and more, as well as a delicious box of free fish every month.
