Job Description

Team: IT

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer based in Switzerland.

You will work at the intersection of software engineering, manufacturing operations, and customer success, directly embedding with industrial clients to translate real-world operational challenges into scalable digital solutions. This role places you on the front line of industrial transformation, where you will design and deploy production-ready applications that improve efficiency, quality, and traceability in complex manufacturing environments.
You will operate in highly dynamic, on-site settings, collaborating closely with operators, engineers, and leadership teams to understand and solve mission-critical problems.
The role blends hands-on technical execution with strategic problem-solving, requiring both strong engineering ability and operational intuition.
You will build integrations across OT/IT systems, working with live production data and shop-floor technologies.
This is a high-impact position where your work directly influences real manufacturing outcomes and customer performance.
You will also act as a key bridge between customers and product teams, shaping future platform capabilities.

Accountabilities:

  • Embed directly with manufacturing customers to design, build, and deploy tailored solutions using a frontline operations platform in live production environments.
  • Lead end-to-end implementation of applications, workflows, and integrations that improve quality, traceability, and operational efficiency.
  • Integrate shop-floor systems such as MES, ERP, PLCs, and quality systems with operational and production data streams.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical and operational issues across software, hardware, and manufacturing processes in real time.
  • Act as technical owner for deployed solutions, ensuring reliability, scalability, and minimal disruption to production.
  • Translate customer operational needs into structured technical requirements and scalable solution architectures.
  • Collaborate with internal product, engineering, and customer success teams to share insights and improve platform capabilities.
  • Document implementations, best practices, and learnings to support internal knowledge sharing and product evolution.
  • Requirements:

    • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial software, or operations technology roles, including at least 4 years in customer-facing or consulting environments.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, production systems, quality control, and traceability requirements.
    • Proven experience working with or integrating operational systems such as MES, ERP, or industrial automation platforms.
    • Ability to analyze shop-floor environments and independently identify opportunities for operational and technical improvement.
    • Experience leading complex technical or operational projects end-to-end in ambiguous environments.
    • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and project coordination skills.
    • Comfortable working directly with customers in technical deep-dive discussions and on-site deployments.
    • Hands-on experience with system integration, data workflows, and industrial environments.
    • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% to customer sites.
    • Nice to have: background in engineering or related technical discipline, and experience in regulated or high-availability production environments.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive annual compensation aligned with experience and market benchmarks.
      • Equity participation in a high-growth, innovation-driven company.
      • Fully flexible work arrangements with significant autonomy in scheduling.
      • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
      • Retirement and financial benefits including pension and savings plans depending on location.
      • Generous paid time off, including unlimited vacation policy in eligible regions.
      • Parental leave and family support programs.
      • Professional development support, including learning budgets and training opportunities.
      • Fitness and wellness subsidies to support personal well-being.
      • Opportunity to work directly on impactful industrial transformation projects with global manufacturers.
