We’re looking for passionate writers who are interested in contributing pieces on personal finance, culture, credit and beyond for our blog, The Mission Lane Junction.
This is a unique opportunity to create content for a company that’s on the verge of becoming the household name in financial products for the 50% of Americans who are not served by traditional financial institutions.
As a freelance content writer, you will:
- Work directly with our Content Strategist to understand our audience and tone of voice
- Use our content calendar as a guide for topics to write about while also contributing ideas of your own.
- Contribute approximately 1–4 pieces of 500–2,000-word blog posts a month, with possible associated social media, email, and video script content
- Keep an ear to the ground on the conversations happening in the neo-bank space to ensure we are topical and speaking to our customers in their own language
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:
- Experience writing long and short form content. The specific number of years is less important than a body of work that illustrates excellent writing instincts and a keen eye for word choice, tone, and syntax.
- Demonstrated ability to craft content with an empathetic, conversational tone that would position Mission Lane as an advocate for the financially underserved.
- Excellent research skills that lead you to the juicy center of any topic.
- A self-driven attitude and ability to master new topics quickly and with ease.
- Experience writing about personal finance is a plus!

Mission Lane is based in the U.S., with offices in Richmond, Virginia & San Francisco, California. Founded in December 2018, we’ve rapidly grown to almost 2 million customers.
It all started with a realization: nearly fifty percent of the adult population in the U.S. doesn’t have access to a clear line of credit. And by “clear” we mean credit without crazy fees that only increase debt. Most traditional credit card companies either overlook or overcharge this group because they have less-than-prime credit scores or no score at all. We decided this just wouldn’t do.
We understand that everyone doesn’t have the same opportunities. We also know that everyone joins us at different stages of their financial journeys. Providing access to clear credit was a critical first step, but our work isn’t done. We are actively developing new products designed to meet our customers where they are, according to their needs.
