Newsweek is seeking freelance sub editors to work with our London bureau on an ad-hoc casual basis.Ā
Weāre looking for experienced newsroom editors who can edit digital copy quickly and cleanly in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for editing high-quality content that is accurate, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism.Ā
You will be offered shifts for various days (including weekends) as per the needs of the bureau which you may accept on a mutually agreeable basis. Ā
Working Hours: 10am-7pm UKĀ
You may work from anywhere in the UK or the Republic of Ireland.Ā
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESĀ
- Edit multiple stories a day across various beats and topicsĀ
- Meet tight deadlinesĀ
- Follow AP StyleĀ
- Ensure the quality of the content is of the highest possible standardĀ
- Perform any other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business Ā
QUALIFICATIONSĀ
- Significant relevant experience in an editing roleĀ
- Strong news judgment across a range of subjectsĀ
- Excellent writing and copy editing skillsĀ
- Flexible hoursĀ
