FullStack Developer (PHP + JavaScript)

The Knot Worldwide is looking for a highly motivated software engineer with a passion for doing things right with meticulous detail. The individual's primary role will be to support and develop applications to enable our couples to plan their weddings and communicate with their guests.

As an engineer on this team, you’ll draw on your technical expertise to ensure these tools have high uptime and strong performance while working with other technical leaders to build a longer term roadmap to match the needs of an ever growing engineering organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Leverage skills and experience to implement product features that are well architected, tested, and understandable.
• Actively participate in the ideation and execution of product roadmap, architecture discussions, and Agile planning.
• Our frontend stack: we write in CSS in Sass, using BEM as an organizational methodology and writing standards with Stylelint. Regarding CSS packaging, we use Webpack in the new responsive architecture and we keep Grunt in the legacy part of our code.
• In Javascript we write in ES6, transpile with Babel and package with Webpack. Although there are still parts of the code where jQuery is used, in the responsive architecture we have removed it entirely in order to work with vanilla javascript for maximum efficiency. Although we're moving away from jQuery, we still use it so it's important that you feel comfortable working with it.
• Our backend stack: we write PHP using Symfony, mysql databases, redis cache, sphinx search, elastic search… 
• You will be developing on a site with very (but VERY) high traffic. Consequently your work will have a great impact.

SUCCESSFUL FULLSTACK DEVELOPERS CANDIDATES HAVE:

• 5+ years overall engineering experience
• You have an advanced level in HTML, CSS and Javascript.
• You have backend background (PHP, Elasticsearch, Redis…)
• Experience working in an Agile, TDD environment
• Hexagonal architecture
• Data services and Database Schema Creation for Business Processes 
• Error handling Skill
• Experience in Implementing Data Protection CCPA and GDPR)
• Good Grasp of Asynchronous Programming and its workarounds
• Ability to design, architect, and communicate business requirements
• Fluent enough in English to be comfortable communicating and coordinating with teams in multiple geographic locations
