As a General Counsel, you'll report to our CEO. You will be our in-house legal expert and build a world-class legal function at Health Gorilla. We are growing quickly and you will provide first line of strategic legal advice in all areas of the business. What you will do at Health Gorilla
  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating different commercial agreements, including master services, licensing, professional services, marketing, and vendor agreements, and developing solutions to resolve issues and improve agreements.
  • Working with our Chief Compliance officer, you'll Identify legal and health care regulatory issues in product and company initiatives, and customer agreements, including privacy and data security issues, and work with the appropriate resources to create solutions and minimize risk.
  • Participate in risk assessment/mitigation and develop creative approaches to legal issues to support goals.
  • Provide practical, creative legal advice to all team members, departments, and subsidiaries.
  • Work with the teams charged with generating business and establishing relationships with other departments, including Marketing, Finance, Product, and Engineering.
  • Provide strategic legal advice and counsel on a broad range of legal topics.
  • Help to provide company-wide norms for global, national, private, and public transactional work of all types and manage teams to deliver these contracts.
What you bring to the role
  • 8+ years of legal experience with experience leading an in-house legal department at a healthcare IT company that offers software as a service.
  • Academic credentials, including a JD degree and membership in good standing with one or more State Bar.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, including commercial contracts in Healthcare IT (SaaS/ VAR/ OEM, partnership agreements of all types for business development and new strategies, agreements for other use cases, and vendor agreements).
  • Exercise and balance it with the ability to assess legal risk while providing practical advice and increasing the pace of revenue.
  • Act as a legal advisor and partner, providing insight and advice in conversations with all company partners, which requires the ability to work on any problem at any time.
  • A team-player mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across different departments and with colleagues at all levels.
  • Enthusiastic and driven team member who enjoys taking ownership of projects, building relationships, and working on cutting-edge legal issues.
