About the Creator Partnerships team:
As leaders in the creator economy, our team uses innovative tools to identify and advance creators. With a focus on post-campaign education and fair compensation, we act as a bridge between creators and Whalar, guiding them through the process. All while advocating for DEI, fair compensation, and accessibility. Join us as a talent scout for the creator community.
About The Role:
As an Associate Director, you will be a critical part of the Creator Partnerships leadership team, overseeing and mentoring Managers and Senior Managers, and guiding their teams of Creative Partnerships Executives. This role expands upon the competencies and responsibilities of the Manager role, focusing on strategic planning, operational oversight, and team leadership.
You will take on the responsibility of career progression for the Managers, conducting their performance reviews including mid-year and end-of-year evaluations, ensuring the feedback is constructive, fair, and supports their career growth within Whalar.
You will be expected to engage with senior leadership, providing insights and feedback on the strategic direction, and aligning your team's work with Whalar's broader goals. You'll also be accountable for overseeing and validating all client and creator-ready materials, ensuring the highest quality and consistency before they are presented to the client.
As a leader within the Creator Partnerships team, you will handle a wide range of campaign potentials, flexibly managing projects of all scales up to the highest dollar value clients. You will have the acumen to represent the Creator Partnerships team in high-level meetings and will occasionally step in to represent the Chief Creator Officer in certain situations. This role requires a strategic mindset, a deep understanding of the creator economy, and exceptional leadership skills.
Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

- Team Leadership & Development: Guide, mentor, and foster a top-tier team of Managers and Creative Partnerships Executives, managing career progression and performance reviews while encouraging a culture of excellence, resilience, inclusivity, and continuous learning.
- Guardians of Excellence and Execution: Set the benchmark for team excellence by endorsing best practices and ensuring top-quality execution in all efforts, leading by example and instilling a culture of integrity, innovation, and commitment to results.
- Strategic Oversight: Offer strategic direction for all Creator Partnerships projects, overseeing the selection, vetting, and promotion of creators to align with campaign objectives and client needs.
- Role Expansion & Mentorship: As an Associate Director, mentor and guide Managers and Senior Managers and their teams, focusing on strategic planning, operational supervision, and leadership.
- Career Progression Responsibility: Take charge of Managers' career progression, conducting fair and constructive mid-year and end-of-year performance reviews that support their career growth within Whalar.
- Senior Leadership Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership, aligning your team's work with Whalar's broader objectives and ensuring the highest quality and consistency of client and creator-ready materials.
- Broad Campaign Handling: Handle diverse campaign potentials, manage projects of all scales, represent the Creator Partnerships team in high-level meetings, and occasionally stand in for the Chief Creator Officer, requiring a strategic mindset, a deep understanding of the creator economy, and exceptional leadership skills.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- Have 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a leadership role.
- Keen attention to detail and strong time and project management skills.
- Demonstrated resilience when faced with challenges; ability to navigate through setbacks and learn from them to drive future success.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make strategic decisions based on accurate and timely analysis.
- Proven ability to adapt strategies and plans in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment; comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams.
- Deep understanding of the creator economy and content strategy.
- Exceptional project management skills, with experience in overseeing and streamlining workflows.
- Proven track record of successful client engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to represent the team and the CCO in high-level meetings.
- Passion for DEI advocacy in all aspects of the creator community.
