About You
As Global Head of Research & Development, you will play a pivotal role in further positioning Nutrafol at the forefront of hair wellness, by harnessing innovations in the aesthetics space to build the company’s future pipeline. You will serve in a strategic leadership role and will be responsible for shaping, implementing, and executing the company's global Research & Development strategy. This position will oversee the entire R&D organization, covering Bio-functionals, Skin & Hair Care, Nutraceuticals, and Portfolio Management. The Global Head of Research & Development will play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of R&D activities, driving portfolio development, and serving as the single point of accountability for all R&D components within the global innovation development portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Provide strategic oversight for origination, decision-making, planning, and prioritization of product development pipeline.
- Lead and direct a team of 12-14 in the R&D organization, as well as outside vendors and collaborators.
- Drive cross-functional teams to formulate and develop specialty products, ensuring competency and structure align with long-term strategy.
- Drive accountability for talent selection and development within the organization.
- Build and maintain a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and delivering excellence.
Financial Management:
- Manage all aspects of the budget for R&D, including capital and expense planning, monthly forecast management, and cost reductions as necessary.
- Budget, plan, and direct product development activities for both current and new products.
- Work collaboratively to identify, recommend, and coordinate licensing and/or merger & acquisitions targets.
Portfolio Development and Analysis:
- Drive breakthrough discoveries for organization and for the broader industry at-large by identifying and implementing innovative strategies to advance the current portfolio.
- Drive portfolio valuation process and prioritization analyses.
- Create roadmaps to achieve development and commercialization goals.
- Respond to regular and ad-hoc portfolio requests from stakeholders.
Collaboration and Partnerships:
- Collaborate closely with functions across the organization to ensure alignment of portfolio strategic decisions.
- Forge partnerships with other members of the Senior Leadership Team and key stakeholders.
Travel:
- Domestic and international travel required as business needs dictate.
Requirements:
- Demonstrated passion for holistic health and a profound belief in nutraceuticals as medicine.
- M.D. and/or Ph.D. from a leading academic institution preferred, but not required. Technical discipline required.
- 15+ years of relevant experience including technology strategy, development and implementation; leading and developing teams and driving innovation.
- Demonstrated track record of successful technology development, new product launch and leveraging of external innovations.
- Significant experience operating in a global technical and business environment, preferably in biotech and/or nutraceuticals.
- Proven track record of global organization development and leading a global R&D to successful outcomes. Agile change management experience.
- Prior experience identifying and integrating external technologies via acquisition/partnerships is strongly preferred.
Preferred:
- Publications and/or patents
- Master's in Science or PhD
- Experience in, or knowledge of product formulation for ingestibles, powders, and topical formulations
Nutrafol takes into consideration a wide range of factors in final compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs. The listed range is applicable only to the annual base salary and does not include additional perks, benefits, or applicable bonus eligibility comprising the total compensation package.
Salary Range:
$375,000—$425,000 USD
