Job description

Team: IT

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Ingénieur·e logiciel principal (Staff Software Engineer) – Commerce HTS based in Canada.

This role sits at the intersection of large-scale platform engineering, product innovation, and AI-accelerated software delivery. You will contribute to a high-impact commerce technology platform that powers partner-facing travel and fintech experiences used by millions of end users globally. The environment is fast-moving, low-process, and deeply collaborative, with a strong emphasis on ownership and technical autonomy. You will work alongside senior engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to shape scalable systems and end-to-end features. A key part of the mission is building intelligent, multi-tenant commerce capabilities that enable partners to launch and grow rapidly. This is also a highly forward-looking engineering context where AI-assisted development, automation, and agent-based workflows are actively embraced to accelerate delivery and quality.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will take ownership of designing and delivering scalable, high-impact systems that support a multi-tenant commerce platform and its partner ecosystem. You will work across the stack (primarily backend) to ensure seamless end-to-end delivery of features and platform capabilities.

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable backend systems and foundational architecture patterns that support partner commerce experiences at scale
  • Own features end-to-end, ensuring successful delivery from backend services through to partner-facing product capabilities
  • Build and optimize systems that support AI-assisted development workflows, including feedback loops, guardrails, and agent orchestration
  • Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to define, refine, and execute roadmap priorities
  • Drive technical decisions through clear documentation, asynchronous alignment, and strong engineering judgment
  • Improve codebases and engineering practices to enable faster, safer development for both engineers and AI-driven workflows
  • Contribute to a culture of high-quality engineering through peer collaboration, feedback exchange, and continuous improvement
  • Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings strong senior/staff-level engineering experience with a focus on scalable systems, product thinking, and modern AI-enabled development practices.

    • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including work on distributed systems and large-scale backend platforms
    • Strong experience in backend development (Scala preferred, with openness to Go, Java, Python, or similar languages)
    • Experience working with cloud environments (e.g., GCP or equivalent) and building scalable service-oriented architectures
    • Proven ability to design and operate complex systems with attention to performance, reliability, and scalability
    • Strong product mindset with the ability to align technical decisions to customer and business outcomes
    • Hands-on experience (or strong interest) in using AI tools, LLMs, or agent-based systems to accelerate software development
    • Ability to design workflows, guardrails, and feedback mechanisms for AI-assisted engineering
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs and influence stakeholders
    • Comfort working in autonomous, low-process environments with high ownership expectations
    • Strong analytical thinking and ability to quickly ramp up in unfamiliar codebases and domains
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation with pre-IPO equity opportunities
      • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision support
      • Life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance
      • Health spending account for eligible expenses
      • Retirement savings plan with employer contributions
      • Paid time off, including generous vacation policies
      • Remote-friendly work environment with home office support and coworking flexibility
      • Parental leave policies above industry standards
      • Travel and lifestyle allowances and perks depending on eligibility
      • Access to telemedicine and employee wellness programs
      • Strong culture of autonomy, innovation, and high-impact engineering work.
