Intern - AI Information Technology & Network Automation Engineer (Studying Bachelor Degree)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in a structured network engineering project under the supervision of Global Network Services engineers
• Assist in gathering, analyzing, and visualizing network operational data
• Support development of automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or similar tools
• Learn and apply AI/ML concepts to network operations and observability use cases
• Assist in documenting network infrastructure, operational procedures, and project findings
• Create dashboards, reports, and presentations for technical and management audiences
• Collaborate with network, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and data analytics teams
• Present project outcomes and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship
• Follow WD information security, compliance, and engineering standards

This position is part of our Early Career program at WD. Our Early Career program is designed to support individuals beginning their professional career by providing the foundational training through a structured onboarding, mentorship, and development curriculum.

REQUIRED:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Data Science, or equivalent experience
• The Internship/Co-op period is at least 4-6 months
• Networking fundamentals (Routing, Switching, VLANs, IP)
• Basic scripting or automation (Python / Bash preferred)
• Network monitoring tools awareness (SNMP, SYSLOG, dashboard tools)
• Documentation and technical writing Problem analysis and structured troubleshooting
• Cross-functional communication and collaboration
• Time management and ability to deliver within project scope

SKILLS:

• Technical Knowledge, basic understanding of:
  • TCP/IP Networking
  • Switching and Routing concepts
  • VLANs, DNS, DHCP
  • Wireless networking fundamentals
  • Network monitoring concepts
• Technical Skills:
  • Basic programming knowledge (Python preferred)
  • Data analysis and visualization skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
  • Power BI or equivalent tools
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts is a plus
• Soft Skills:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Strong learning mindset and curiosity about emerging technologies
  • Demonstrate a good level of English proficiency (written/verbal)
