Role Overview:

Could you be our next Inventory and Customer Service Specialist? Globe Life is looking for an Inventory and Customer Service Specialist to join the team!

This role is responsible for managing casket inventory accuracy and coordinating with factory production and shipping teams to ensure product availability meets incoming order demand within Brown Services a division of Liberty National under Globe Life & Accident. It is responsible for delivering responsive professional customer service to funeral home partners throughout the order and fulfillment process serving as their primary point of contact. This role is also responsible for upholding the highest standards of accuracy timeliness and compassionate communication — recognizing that every order represents a family in need — while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing and fulfillment environment.

This is an on-site position located in Birmingham Alabama.

What You Will Do:

  • Monitor and manage casket and supply inventory levels across all product lines on a daily basis tracking stock quantities identifying low-stock and out-of-stock conditions and coordinating with factory production supervisors to ensure adequate inventory is available to meet incoming order demand without disruption to fulfillment timelines. 
  • Receive review and process incoming casket orders from funeral homes verifying policyholder eligibility under applicable Liberty National life insurance policies confirming product availability and entering orders accurately into the order management system to initiate fulfillment. 
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for funeral home partners throughout the order process providing timely professional and compassionate communication on order confirmation product availability fulfillment status and resolution of order discrepancies or special requests.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts across all casket product lines reconciling physical counts against system inventory records investigating and resolving discrepancies and maintaining inventory accuracy at all times. 
  • Coordinate with factory production supervisors and the shipping team to align production scheduling and inventory availability with incoming order volume and delivery urgency ensuring all orders are fulfilled within established service level timelines.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records in applicable inventory management and order management systems ensuring all inventory transactions — including receipts adjustments transfers and order allocations — are documented completely and in a timely manner.
  • Identify and escalate inventory discrepancies damaged product or quality issues to management and the factory team coordinating corrective actions and ensuring affected orders are fulfilled through alternative inventory or expedited production.
  • Resolve order fulfillment issues product availability conflicts and customer complaints in a timely and professional manner escalating complex issues to management as appropriate and following up to ensure satisfactory resolution for funeral home partners.
  • Support the receiving and put-away of finished casket inventory from the factory floor verifying quantities and product specifications against production records and ensuring inventory is accurately recorded and properly staged for order fulfillment.
  • Prepare inventory reports stock level summaries and order fulfillment status updates for management review providing accurate and timely data that supports production planning and customer service decision-making.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records of all customer communications order activities and inventory transactions in accordance with company record retention policies ensuring documentation is complete and accessible for operational and audit purposes. 

What You Can Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration Supply Chain Management Operations Management or a related field preferred.
  • 2–4 years of experience in inventory management customer service order fulfillment or a related operations role required.
  • Experience managing inventory in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred. 
  • Experience managing customer communications related to order fulfillment and product availability preferred.
  • Experience in a sensitive or time-critical fulfillment environment a plus.
  • Working knowledge of inventory management principles including stock monitoring cycle counting inventory reconciliation and coordination with production teams to maintain accurate inventory levels.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally empathetically and effectively with funeral home partners during sensitive and time-critical order fulfillment circumstances. 
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems order management platforms and Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately process orders verify policyholder eligibility conduct inventory counts and maintain inventory and order records with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple operational priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing and fulfillment environment prioritizing tasks effectively to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of order fulfillment processes in a manufacturing or distribution environment including order entry inventory allocation and coordination with production and shipping teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies order fulfillment issues and customer concerns with urgency and professionalism. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear and timely order status updates and inventory reports to funeral home partners factory supervisors and management. 
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of policyholder information and handling all order and inventory activities with the sensitivity and professionalism appropriate to the nature of the service.
