Java Developer

Job Description:

The U.S. Forest Service (FS) seeks a Java Developer to support the web services support team for the Agency.

Note: This role requires US Citizenship and you must be able to pass a Public Trust background check. 

Duties/ Responsibilities 

• Maintain, support, and update existing Agency public-facing and internal-facing websites and web applications functionality 
• Design, develop, test, migrate and maintain the implementation of existing Forest Service public-facing and internal-facing web sites and web applications and web components in an Agile environment
• Integrate and maintain websites and web applications and systems with other internal and external applications, tools, and databases, collaborating with Agency technical staff when necessary
• Maintain, support, and integrate current WebSphere CMS with Oracle Web Center Content, and Oracle Exadata databases
• Use Agency approved and specified GitHub repository to store source code, document code, release packages, and associated artifacts

Required Skills/Abilities

• U.S Citizenship required
• Experience building responsive websites with JSP technology (candidate must be proficient with Java, HTML, and JavaScript with or without using frameworks like JQuery).
• Experience supporting backend JSP portlets and Java servlets
• Thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle eg Requirements, Design, Development, Testing and exposure to Agile or iterative SDLC
• Familiar with Git and Github (branching, merging, code review, pull request, etc.)
• Experience deploying websites in a centralized environment

Nice to Have Skills

• Bachelor of Science in IT, Software Engineering, or a related field
• Experience building responsive websites using WebSphere CMS
• Familiar with Oracle SQL
• Familiar with Apache Solr

Salary Range:

• 90k-125k
