Job Description
Who We Are:
StackCommerce is the leading commerce + content platform. For consumers, we help them discover and purchase products directly on the news and content sites they visit daily. For merchants, we provide unmatched exposure through shoppable articles and product features on the world’s largest media outlets. For publishers, we power white-labeled e-commerce shops with on-site checkout for over 1,000 publishers including Yahoo!, CNN, Hearst, Mashable, NY Post, TMZ, MarketWatch, and many more. TPG’s Integrated Media acquired a majority stake in the company in December 2020, StackCommerce acquired BrandCycle in December 2021, and Stack was named one of the Built In Best Places to Work in Los Angeles in January 2022.
What You'll Do:
StackCommerce is hiring an eagle-eyed, tech-savvy, proactive remote Junior Editor to help us polish Content Studio shoppable articles, turning good copy into great copy. The candidate should have a detail-oriented mind, a passion for perfecting the writing of others, and a knack for spotting errors—enthusiasm for tech gear, online shopping, sharing new products, and general commerce content is a bonus.
Stack’s Content Studio produces 250+ articles every week, and the Editor will be responsible for performing hands-on editing duties for some of the top publishers on the web, as well as assisting with communications between Content Studio and our network of freelance writers. This is a unique opportunity to edit impactful, compelling content that goes beyond a standard product description and is viewed by massive audiences. This position requires organization, creativity, reliability, and the ability to match a variety of style guides and brand voices.
Responsibilities Include:
- Ensure that each product's value is conveyed to the reader in a contextualized way that matches each publisher’s audience
- Copy edit and proofread commerce articles for spelling and grammar, style and usage, formatting, and clarity
- Assess and optimize headlines, subheadlines, and lead-in text for reader engagement and SEO
- Quickly shift between the voice, tone, and style guide of publishers from all different verticals
- Simultaneously apply the StackCommerce house style and best practices to the same content
- Cross-reference product details, pricing, and marketing briefs to ensure accuracy of sale and campaign information in articles
- Liaise with freelance writers when necessary, including sending article feedback
- Manage tight deadlines and prioritize workload with little supervision
- Work efficiently within our in-house CMS, Asana, Slack, and Salesforce
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders in editorial, publisher account management, sales, and merchandising to ensure any roadblocks are addressed in a timely manner
- Source and resize images to accompany articles as needed
- Rewrite commerce content as needed
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Up to 2 years of proofreading, copy editing, or editing work; SEO experience a big plus
- E-commerce, marketing, and/or journalism background or education
- Expert time management
- Flawless attention to detail
- English fluency
- You’re responsive to requests, questions, and messages across a variety of remote communication tools, including but not limited to Slack, Google apps, Asana, and Salesforce
- You’re curious and value knowing why you’re doing something and how it relates to the broader team and company goals
- You’re comfortable sharing ideas and speaking in front of a crowd
- You’re excited about taking ownership of whatever you’re working on
- You’ll try to figure things out on your own but never hesitate to ask for help when needed
- You can focus on details while never losing sight of the big picture
- You have integrity and can be relied upon to follow through on commitments
- You have a collaborative mindset but can be relied upon to dig in and get things done
What to Expect:
- Intro Call: You’ll hop on a quick call with the hiring manager so we can get to know you better — and you can learn a little more about the role.
- Homework Assignment: We will send over a quick writing exercise that challenges you to solve a problem and come up with creative solutions. Get a feel for what you’ll be doing on a daily basis!
- Remote-Team Interview: You’ll be meeting with team members on a video call. This is your chance to ask questions and see who this role interacts with on a daily basis.
- Final Video Call: This is a great opportunity to get to know our President over video.
- Offer: We send over an offer and you (hopefully) accept! Welcome to Stack!
Benefits + Perks:
