Job Description

Team: Analyst

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a LP Analyst based in the United States.

This role sits within a high-impact refining optimization and planning environment where you will leverage linear programming (LP) models to analyze refinery performance and identify margin improvement opportunities. You will play a key role in supporting both short- and medium-term planning, ensuring optimal crude selection, product strategy, and operational execution across refinery systems. The position blends deep analytical modeling with commercial decision support, directly influencing profitability and operational efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders across refining, supply, and finance to translate model outputs into actionable strategies. In addition, you will support performance tracking and retrospective analysis to continuously improve planning accuracy and model reliability. This is a highly analytical and collaborative role suited for someone who thrives at the intersection of engineering, economics, and operational strategy.

Accountabilities:

  • Conduct LP model-based analysis to support refinery optimization, medium-term planning, and performance evaluation across multiple sites.
  • Identify margin improvement opportunities across crude selection, product slate optimization, and refinery operations.
  • Support economic evaluations of projects, turnaround planning, and supply or sales scenarios.
  • Perform deep-dive analysis on operational or commercial opportunities, including specification changes and new initiatives.
  • Analyze gaps between LP model outputs and actual performance to improve model accuracy and planning effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with refining, midstream, supply, and finance stakeholders to align operational and commercial priorities.
  • Contribute to refinery reporting by delivering performance insights and key operational metrics.
  • Support development of long-term refinery strategies and volume planning activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement in planning processes and analytical methodologies across the organization.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, economics, or a related technical field.
    • 3–7+ years of experience in refining, petrochemicals, process engineering, supply operations, or production planning.
    • Experience or strong exposure to LP modeling, refinery optimization, or commercial planning tools preferred.
    • Strong analytical and economic evaluation skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and operational scenarios.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams.
    • Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Commercial awareness and understanding of refinery value chains and operational drivers.
    • Self-starter mentality with strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive annual salary range: $126,000 – $180,000 USD.
      • Annual discretionary bonus and long-term incentive opportunities.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage.
      • Retirement savings plan with 401(k) matching and potential pension eligibility.
      • Generous paid time off, including vacation, holidays, and personal days.
      • Parental leave program offering up to 8 weeks of paid leave.
      • Hybrid work arrangement offering flexibility between remote and office-based work.
      • Relocation support available within the United States.
      • Strong focus on learning, development, and career progression in a global organization.
