Job Description

We are hiring a Maintenance Technician - Electrical and Instrumentation for a high-volume union manufacturing facility in Chicago that produces food products. This role focuses on advanced electrical troubleshooting, PLC systems, and instrumentation calibration. Key Responsibilities As an Instrumentation Technician, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: β€’ Repair complex electrical equipment, including automated machines, control panels, relays, circuit breakers, communication systems, and alarms. β€’ Install electrical equipment with minimal supervision. β€’ Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and detect defective control modules. β€’ Perform complex wiring assignments; install power, light, electronic, and control circuits. β€’ Provide technical assistance to lower-level maintenance electricians. β€’ Program and troubleshoot PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Foxboro systems. β€’ Calibrate sensors for temperature, pressure, level, and input readings. β€’ Troubleshoot VFDs, motors, and control interlocks. β€’ Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals. β€’ Adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and company policies. Required Qualifications β€’ High school diploma or GED equivalent and completion of formal apprenticeship or equivalent training (required). β€’ Minimum 3+ years’ experience in industrial maintenance with a strong electrical focus. β€’ Proven PLC troubleshooting skills (PLC programming experience preferred). β€’ Control panel installation experience. β€’ Knowledge of VFD fundamentals, operation, and protocols. β€’ Ability to wire and test 3-phase motors. β€’ Proficiency in diagnosing and isolating problems in complex systems. β€’ Industrial/manufacturing background required.
