Job Description
JOB DUTIES: Partner with Product Management to ensure the team has a clear strategic direction and roadmap; Run Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, demos, standups, backlog management etc; Resource allocation for key projects and capacity management; Create development plans for engineers and coach engineers to develop their full potential; Project planning - identify, scope, prioritize, track, and report deliverables and milestones; Manage risk and mitigate any issues that arise during development; Manage operational issues that arise running the software in production; Listen to what team needs to deliver better software, then proactively do those things; Balance competing priorities to ensure we effectively ship new features while resolving defects and managing technical debt; Introduce, run, tweak, and optimize team project management processes, as the principal owner of team delivery; Recruit, coach, develop, and motivate engineers across multiple teams; Proactively seek to listen and find alignment with other engineering teams and stakeholders by understanding teams' technology, building strong relationships, and insisting on high-quality solutions that solve multiple strategic challenges at once; Handle multiple stakeholders' concerns live, in meetings, with aplomb; Tune and optimize team processes using qualitative & quantitative feedback; Implement & maintain a feedback-driven culture where it is routine to ask for feedback on performance.
Supervises 10 direct reports: 3 Senior Software Engineers, 7 Software Engineers
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field and 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer. Experience to include 5 years in: software development utilizing at least two different tech stacks as either an engineer or a manager; and, experience working with agile processes and workflows. Experience to include 3 years in: interacting with multiple stakeholders' to build engineering solutions; teams shipping SaaS products for consumers or businesses. Experience to include 1 year in: Software Engineering Management/Lead role on backend services exposing API's.
OTHER: Work Site: up to 100% remote and reporting to HQ located at 11120 Four Points Drive, Suite 100, Austin, TX 78726 40 hours/week;
