LaunchDarkly is looking for a talented and inspirational Manager of Reliability Engineering to join our growing team. You will lead a talented team of engineers with a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our systems. Your experience with major cloud providers, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), observability, and incident management will be instrumental in shaping our SRE strategy and fostering a culture of excellence. You will also look after our mission-critical databases, making sure they are resilient in the face of ever-evolving traffic loads and patterns. After-hours on-call is compensated in addition.

What you'll get to do:Lead and enable a team developing tools and automation to streamline the deployment and operation of our mission-critical services, and to detect and diagnose problems quickly and efficiently.
Enable our engineers to deliver their services with higher autonomy, reliability, performance, and speed through offerings written in Go and Terraform.
Set goals to ensure the health and continuous improvement of the system and its operational processes. You will help drive the overall reliability, scalability, and performance of our platform.
Manage SQL and NoSQL databases at scale, including infrastructure and operations, performance tuning, and best practices.
Prioritize strategic, high-impact investments while maintaining health, performant, and cost-effective services, both internal and external facing.
Lead and mature our Incident Response Game Day practice, cultivating a culture that promotes reliability, learning from failures; you will actively shape the SRE culture within the organization.
Help build a diverse and highly skilled team able to keep pace with a rapidly growing product.
3+ years experience leading Reliability-oriented Engineers, with a proven track record of hiring, motivating, growing, and empowering teams.
A drive to truly understand the reliability-related needs of your customer (our developers!) and the ability to translate those needs into effective solutions.
Observability expertise with major platforms such as Datadog and Honeycomb, as well as a strong command of concepts like SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and the balance between shipping speed vs system reliability.
A solid foundation in infrastructure and software engineering, allowing you to push your team, ask hard questions, and recognize excellence.
Experience responding to production incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and proactively identifying issues via activities such as Game Days.
Familiarity with incident management tools such as PagerDuty, FireHydrant, and StatusPage, and the ability to configure and automate them effectively.
Experience building and maintaining real-time, large-scale production systems.
Strong communication skills, a spirit of collaboration, a positive and curious mindset.
Pay:
Target pay range for a Level M3 in San Francisco/Bay Area: $190,000 - $224,000*
*Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), health, vision, and dental insurance, and mental health benefits in addition to salary.
