The Role:
We are looking for an experienced Manager, Revenue Accounting that will own the revenue recognition policy at Medely. You will advise the Company on the revenue recognition implication of various product offerings in development, with a focus on SAAS offerings. You will work closely with finance leadership and partner with members of various departments on ad-hoc, value-added projects related to revenue. You will plan an integral role in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Company’s financial accounting controls, processes, records, and systems related to revenue recognition. The ideal candidate for this position is highly technical, skilled multi-tasker, reliable, committed to consistently meeting deadlines and willing to "roll up their sleeves." Your responsibilities will evolve over time and initially are:
What you'll do:
Own the revenue recognition accounting policy at Medely, including the application of the revenue recognition standard for all new revenue streams
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and yearly close process for revenue and related areas, ensuring timely and accurate reporting of all revenue-related information in accordance with GAAPÂ
Work cross-functionally with product, legal, and finance to understand and shape the revenue recognition (ASC 606) of new product offerings with a focus on subscription-based products
Drive process improvements and contribute to exciting accounting transformation projects to achieve scalability and efficiency across processes and workflows as we prepare to go public
Research accounting guidance and formally document conclusions in memos for complex accounting transactions/topics related to revenue recognition and other areas
Handle special projects, including integrating our internal platform with NetSuite, taking full responsibility for the successful and timely completion of projects
Lead, coach, mentor and train your team; take an active interest in their career and development and find ways to continue their growth and development.
Help manage the annual audit, taking full ownership of revenue and related areasÂ
Identify, analyze, document and enforce key internal controls over revenue recognition and related areas; ensuring controls are in place and operating in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley rules and regulations in preparation for going public
What you'll need to have:
5-7+ years experience in Accounting roles with a focus on revenue technical accounting
Experience in Big 4, private accounting, SaaS, and/or marketplace preferred
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field. CPA (or working towards) preferred
Experience hiring, leading, and developing a team of senior and junior accountants preferred
Exceptional understanding of GAAP and accounting principles, especially around ASC 606
Strong project management skills and ability to effectively prioritize work in a high-growth environmentÂ
Advanced Excel skills, with proficiency in using and creating Pivot Tables, Sumifs, and VLOOKUP
Netsuite experience is ideal, including revenue recognition modules and/or 3rd party plugins
Ability to be flexible and resourceful in response to changing priorities and needs
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
The estimated compensation for this role is: $125,000-$150,000
